    Random Mego Sighting

was just watching the Saturday Night Live Christmas special on tv featuring clips spanning their history. There is a skit with Dan Ackroid and Candice Bergen called "Consumer Probe". Dan plays the shifty president of a toy company that makes unsafe toys, Candice is a reporter. The Mego special appearance is Fonzie (renamed Johnny Switchblade Adventure Punk) featuring 2 sharp knives that spring out of his elbows.

The pics aren't great, but it ain't easy to photograph your tv screen.

Just thought someone might enjoy it. Cheers.

Good catch! It's always exciting to catch a Mego cameo in a movie or tv show.
I seem to remember a mego Hulk making a cameo appearance in the movie Poltergeist.

      Nice catch Nate.....

Is it safe to say the 40 year old virgin still holds the # 1 spot for most megos in a movie or TV show?

No. The Toy had a whole endcap of carded WGSH's in it.

Is that the Gleason / Pryor movie? I will have to check that out.

Yes, I remember that. That is the scene where the kid sees Richard Pryor and wants to buy him. There's a lot of MEGO figures in that scene.

I can see Robin, Superman, Shazam, Hulk, Conan (or is it WW?) and lotsa Batman in that Pryor pic. What else is there?

I showed that picture to Mark Huckabone last month when he popped round to the house. He told me they shot the Wonder Wheel scene twice, meaning there are two distinct mego displays in the film. Time to search the DVD dump bins.

Saw that SNL skit and it made me laugh, the fonzie doll also appears in a Halloween episode.

Still trying like mad to find the SCTV skit where kirk and shazam are shown dancing together, apparently it has music rights issues.

There's a different MEGO display in the scene where they are trying to convince Richard to go with the kid and he keeps saying "NO". You have to look closer.

I saw this movie in the theatre and about crapped my pants when that scene was happening.
