I do because my Dad introduced me to those serials in the 70's. I watched them avidly. We had no vcr's or dvds or bluerays but they were on every Saturday and with only about 5 antenna channels, he managed to find them and we watched. The Lone Ranger was another that aired allot, no revisions there. Sorry you missed out. (Btw, your avatar looks to be a bit before our time too. But I still like it above and beyond the Cris Reeves look ;-)

I might add that I just saw Sherlock Holmes movies airing on TCM. I don't follow Sherlock Holmes and never read about him nor watched a movie but I do have a vivid recount of what he should look like. Any modern alterations would not affect that.

My dad did too in the 70s and got Raymond reprints but he also took me to see the movie in 1980, that's my Flash Gordon, it's all relative.

Bully for you that you like the serials, they're great but you can't say a preference is wrong.

I just cannot believe that I stand so much in the minority on this topic. I do believe that the non movie comic version of the figure is the one that stands well with all Mego made. I'm not one for revising a character that is so well known. And Hollywood tends to do just that, even in 1980. I guess I stand with a whole generation of pre-mego fans on this. And if I am so in the minority with this as it seems to be, I guess the 8" Flash Gordon with a likeness as I remember will never be. But as it goes, Oh well. At least my point can be read and agreed or disagreed.

The purpose of this poll was never Alex Raymon VS Sam Jones version, read the initial question. It was solely based on the 1980 movie designs.

Flash Gordon has gone through several incarnations and interpretations even before the Sam Jones movie, the comic strip and 50s TV series bore little resemblance to the 30s version.

As for getting a classic FG, that license is still available so it's entirely possible, if these figures are a success maybe somebody will jump on that license as well.

Yes, I did read that. (A little late in the post, I might add but I read it) and as I posted above to SciFi, if they are doing the Movie suit, the head should stay consistent with that. But the Mego version looks more to me like FG. And I do support anything toward moving forward with this. I just hope the topic never comes up as to which should be depicted, the comic version or the Smallville version of Superman, I'll probably have allot to say about that too, welcomed or not.

1980 Flash Gordon movie line Mego-like figures = new head sculpts that resemble actor likenesses.

Why would one even consider the Mego Gordon head that was possibly sculpted in the likeness of Crabbe? He looks nothing like Sam Jones. Crabbe wasn't in the 1980 movie. Jones was. He needs to look like Jones.

^^ I don't really get why this is even a issue, if its movie based, then it should be movie based alll the way around.

Hi everyone again! I'd love to clarify this issue even further. We only have the license from King Features to make the 1980 movie authentic outfits. We did have the opportunity, however, to use the original head sculpts from the Mego Flash Gordon figures because we have access to them. We initially thought that if fans wanted those released in an officially licensed capacity, we could use them with the movie authentic outfits. I know it may sound weird now, but we wanted everyone to chime in with an opportunity to express their opinions. Hopefully that issue has now been resolved.

Thanks for the clarification about this point, which is true. Entertainment Earth accepts pre-orders but does not require anyone to pay any money in advance (but does require a credit-card to hold your order). We encourage pre-orders to gauge interest, but we would never ask you to pay for merchandise until it actually exists and is ready to ship to you. Entertainment Earth has been in business since 1996 and has never changed that policy, which is one of many reasons why they are our exclusive distributor. We can't speak to how other retailers handle pre-orders, so please ask if you decide to pre-order from any other source. BifBangPow! receives NO money in advance from any company for pre-orders- regardless of how those retailers solicit orders directly to consumers. We get paid after we ship the product to our retail partners. I hope that clears this issue up. Please write back with more of your concerns / questions.

Exactly! Would that not be possible? It may be the only way to get a vinyl version of the Mego Sculpt in 8" scale.
