    Mego Nosey Dog No. 5043

Hello. I collect a lot of toys, and i just came across this Mego dog, and I cannot for the life of me find anything on it. Can anyone give me any info on this toy, a production date, and possibly a value? It's item number is 5043. I have added a couple of pics. Thanks.

Me neither. That's why I was so interested in it when I saw it. It's brand new too, and has never been out of the box, which I thought was great. I've researched for 2 days straight, and could not find anything on it

        HOLY COW.

full on forgotten toy memory bubbling up to the surface here.
I loved this little fellow. Must have gotten it when I was maybe 2 for an xmas??
His nose wiggled in and out while you walked him and the tail wagged. By the time he finished his residency with us, the metal armature was sticking out through the bare patches of fur/cloth and he had a crispy glue toupee where that green hat used to be.

Goodness me and a bucket of pancakes!!! Thanks for the memory. Awesome.

No problem. I love when that happens. If it's a good memory of course.

                Yeah, they were good times.

It is funny how some of these things were really loved and important to us, but are lost to the fragile structure of memory. I know that dog was plumb worn out when it left our family and I remember finding it in the back of the closet a few times and testing it out, but it isn't on my hot look for list simply because the memories of 2 year old me don't sit on top of the memories of 8 year old me.

I am, however, currently experiencing a flood of recall for that toy. I can even hear the whine of the motor and screechy/scratchy sound of the metal parts moving around in it.
It smelled like sewing machine oil.

Awesome toy and great find in that nib condition.

The tan dog on the box ended up a yellow dog in production.

Ditto. It kinda looka like Digger the Dog. I wonder which one came out first.

Actually items like this, in this condition, can sometimes bring more than some of the Mego Action figures. The quality is just as good, if not better, but it's a different type of Mego, and tin collector toy. My Batcopter did bring a lot though, when I got rid of it.
