Sticky Toys

This question is about toys in general.

When out of the package for display, some plastic toys stick to the wooden shelves, and some get sticky all over. Is it the paint? Or the type of plastic? Or the varnish on the shelf? Or...?

Is there anything that can be done about it?

I read that some toys plastic just disintegrate with time. Famous covers figures being one of them.

Dont think anything can be done. Not that I read so far.
