I'm really bummed that the Gilligan's Island set was never finished. I have two stranded castaways, but that's all. I don't suppose, at this late date, that '...and the rest' will ever be made, which makes me sad.

Sadly, it's the story of my Mego collecting life; it seems I always want just a few more.
I'll never understand why Mego didn't do a Sheriff of Nottingham for the vintage Merry Men line.WANTED: Dick Grayson SI trousers; gray AJ Mustang horse; vintage RC Batman (Bruce Wayne) head; minty Wolfman tights; mint Black Knight sword; minty Launcelot boots; Lion Rock (pale) Dracula & Mummy heads; Lion Rock Franky squared boots; Wayne Foundation blue furniture; Flash Gordon/Ming (10") unbroken holsters; CHiPs gloved arms; POTA T2 tan body; CTVT/vintage Friar Tuck robes, BBP TZ Burgess Meredith glasses.Comment

They actually released an Athena, but your point stands.
While both can be disappointing, I do draw a distinction between "they actually could have continued the line" (BSG, Trek) vs. "core characters were never made" (Cheers, Brady Bunch, LOTR, etc. etc.)
I get the "fail fast" mentality... if a property is not connecting with collectors, I don't begrudge Mego moving on. But I also think some of those lines could have been more successful if the figure lineup felt more cohesive.Comment

That was actually a classic tv toys release not Mego, but I definitely get where your coming from, at least a Professor and Ginger would have been nice. I think somebody here at the museum made customs of the others sometime ago.Comment

I think unique tooling impacted Oz re-releases, particularly Tin Man. But of course, Oz and Knights parts can contribute to one heck of a custom Dr. Doom.WANTED: Dick Grayson SI trousers; gray AJ Mustang horse; vintage RC Batman (Bruce Wayne) head; minty Wolfman tights; mint Black Knight sword; minty Launcelot boots; Lion Rock (pale) Dracula & Mummy heads; Lion Rock Franky squared boots; Wayne Foundation blue furniture; Flash Gordon/Ming (10") unbroken holsters; CHiPs gloved arms; POTA T2 tan body; CTVT/vintage Friar Tuck robes, BBP TZ Burgess Meredith glasses.Comment

I agree, plus a Maid Marion, Prince John or King Richard either. While on the subject, Mego could have continued the Waltons line too, the rest of the kids and the Godsey’s too. Didn’t Mego make the country store?Comment

I know the line was the Super Knights, but it would have been cool to see Merlin in there.Last edited by Stormbreaker; Sep 6, '25, 4:47 PM.Comment

So easy to use gray/white-haired Blackbeard head-sculpt with blue eyes for Merlin.
My Knights Wave 2 would be Merlin, Guinevere, Mordred, Sir Gawain, and the Green Knight. I wouldn't have refused a St. George & the Dragon set, either--One Million BC Tyrannosaurus with a different head?WANTED: Dick Grayson SI trousers; gray AJ Mustang horse; vintage RC Batman (Bruce Wayne) head; minty Wolfman tights; mint Black Knight sword; minty Launcelot boots; Lion Rock (pale) Dracula & Mummy heads; Lion Rock Franky squared boots; Wayne Foundation blue furniture; Flash Gordon/Ming (10") unbroken holsters; CHiPs gloved arms; POTA T2 tan body; CTVT/vintage Friar Tuck robes, BBP TZ Burgess Meredith glasses.Comment
