I wanted very, very much to get the Spider-Man set from the Disney Store. Even though I receive regular updates from them, I had no kind of warning when the figures were to be released. Yes, I know they sold out so fast, I probably would've missed them anyway, but is there some trick to know when the next set will appear? I'd like to think I at least have a chance.

The date and time they went on sale was posted here on the Mego Museum, as well as shared on Mego-related social media. So those would all be good places to monitor.
I'm sorry you missed out... but like you said, I knew the exact time and completed my transaction 2 minutes after launch, and still ended up with my order cancelled. Hopefully it will be better handled for the next release.

It’s mainly on Facebook. My wife has it and I check often. Thats really the main outlet for the first news. Hopefully we see an announcement for wave 2 in the next two weeksComment

If this has turned into a roll call, count me among the appreciative members of the "No Facebook" League! The Museum is the epicenter of the Mego universe for me.
Cheers to everyone that contributes time and effort so generously! (And better luck to us all with the next wave!)Comment

I get the feeling most people here are around my age and probably have the same trajectory of experience as I do. Having been around for BBSs, IRC, Usenet and then as the WWW came about, message boards and forums, I still have a desire for the community and info sharing that built and drove all of that. Web 2.0 and its forms of social media (largely) seems to be more about influence and consensus thinking. It boils down to me recognizing these as two very different value systems. That may be only a function of age or a Gen X quality at large, but I still value community and information sharing done with the best of nerdy-intentions and without algorithms.Comment

I've always found message boards to work better than Facebook for me. Facebook seems to be about throwaway posts that scroll down to oblivion before any sane person can read them all. Message boards are organized to make it easy to find the conversations that interest you. Just my opinion.Comment
