Should Mego make a Red Skull?

I had family killed by fascists. My grandfather fought fascists.

I just want Nazis to go away. From our streets, from our media, which has promoted them since the end of WWII, etc.

I have no desire to own a toy representing that.

I can see them making the later green boiler suit uniforms or the more Hydra dominant movie uniforms. I don’t think there will be a Nazi uniform if he ever does get made. I can understand a company not wanting to make a Nazi uniform. I can also see making
them to a degree. I would love to see a Hogans Heroes line of figures. I’m talking ten figures with two vehicles and a four scene playset. But that’s me. I get it

If they make a Captain America (and I’m sure they will) Red Skull is the logical choice for an arch villain, all you would need to do is substitute the Nazi arm band with maybe a letter X or a Z or maybe something like a collied snake, that would be fitting since all those scum bag fascist were snakes. I would like to see a four pack, 2 heroes and 2 villains, Cap and Thor, with Red Skull and Loki.

I think, if made, the choice would certainly be the green jumpsuit, sans indicia. It has precedent in the Ben Cooper jiggler and much '70s stock art.

Edit: Hasbro Legends released a classic Red Skull in 2021 largely based on '70s stock art; the figure's mustard-colored armband featured a Hydra symbol.

Sonneveld, your words touched my heart. I am sorry for your losses and am thankful for your grandfather's bravery. The dark side of Captain America is that the most prominent villians in his rogue's gallery are Nazis. Red Skull, Baron Zemo, Strucker, and others I'm forgetting. The question that I ask of you is "would you be ok with these characters without the Nazi symbolism or are they offensive regardless?" There are enough parts available out there that even the crudest of customizers could produce a Red Skull with little effort. Add to that Cap has plenty of Avengers bad guys he could fight.

It’s an interesting question. I’d probably buy one as long as it didn’t have the symbol. If it did, I would not buy it.

But, since these would be in a four pack, I don’t know. That’s a tougher question. I would probably lean towards buying the set and customize the symbolism off the uniform. Or destroy the uniform and create my own.

I doubt Disney would allow the symbol on it. But I can understand even if without, why someone would not buy it.

First, condolences to you on the loss of your family members due to the ultimate evil. My grandfather was a WWII veteran.

Second, yes, I would want one. Like others have written, replace the symbol of evil with the Hydra symbol or go with the green jumpsuit. There are options.

I grew up with a lot of WW2 trauma passed on to me, there are lines I won't cross with toys.

Personally, I dream of a Mego Red Skull (based on his silver age look and without any indicia,) but I get how someone would feel repulsed by the character.

I want a Mego Red Skull, but I get not wanting to promote Nazis or fascism in any way, even as a villain. The classic green jumpsuit or Hydra iconography is the way to go. Hasbro has released many Red Skulls both based on the comics and the MCU in this way.
