    RIP Dwayne Pinkney AKA ENYAWD72

Very sad to hear of their passing of Dwayne Pinkney a long time Member of the Mego and PS communities. A tremendous talent who found true happiness in creating and sharing. He had that spark and passion and I really liked the man.

I watched Dwayne prosper through the hobby and I was touched by it all. He was a good dude.

A gigantic loss to this community and to the world that embraced him. I knew him for a long time through this channel, but his influence and admiration stretched into so many other facets of the craft. His appeal was vast and respect immense. Its a very sad day to know his thoughtful reflections, unyielding drive, and original expressions are now in our rearview mirror. We lost a very good man and the world feels allot smaller for it. RIP Dwayne. I know you're painting those clouds with your passion even as we mourn your departure. The Heavens are a better place with your admission.

Dwayne was running a Aurora Monster Model Facebook group, so I think that's where he spent a lot of his online time these days. Great group everyone here should check out. His paint work was sublime, on both models and sculptures and canvas. He was a helluva photographer too, plusing every toy he photographed. Plus, he was just an intersting fellow. I remember how he shocked people when he'd buy a vintage toy in the package and open it. But he followed his passions. He did his own thing, and seemed very happy at it., which we can all aspire to. He'll definitely be missed.

Sad news for our community. Dwayne was an incredibly talented artist, a passionate collector, and a true one-of-a-kind personality. I enjoyed getting to know him over the years. He will be missed.

I met Dwayne at my first MegoMeet in 2013, which will always be a cherished experience for me.

At first, I was a little intimidated by him--Dwayne was a big man, with big opinions to match. But I grew to know him here as a kind, generous person who had striven to move from a difficult past to a happier life with his wife and his hobbies. I'm grateful he was comfortable to share personal things with me and was considerate of my own feelings and perspectives, too.

I can't comment on his passion, creativity, and talent more incisively than the other posts here. He was possibly unique in blending those qualities. But I can say, simply, that I'll miss him, that I'm better for knowing him, that his art enriched me.

RIP Dwayne, you made a difference.

I am heartbroken to see this. He seemed to always be here and i enjoyed seeing his paints. Two years in a row, I had the luck to be his Secret Santa recipient and then he mine. He sent me a bunch of stuff and on the mailing box he drew this Batman illustration which I cut out and framed. The next year I was so happy to get his name so that I could return the favor with a drawing of my own along with some dinosaur model kits. My prayers go out to his family.

                    Steve, that's great!

Something else I'd like to share:

A few years ago, Mego Corp. sold a Lon Chaney Phantom of the Opera--a nice figure with a good sculpt, but lackluster factory face-paints. Dwayne posted a terrific repainted head--with detailed eyes and mouth, and great purple shading and wrinkling.

I'm a quite a Phantom fan and asked Dwayne if he'd accept a commission for another repaint; he demurred because he was working on other products. About a year later, I asked again, and he sold me his original Phantom repaint at a reasonable price, as he was thinning his Mego collection. I'm proud to own an example of his work of a character we both loved.

I don't think I've linked this properly, but I can't separate/revise it: If you click on the pic or Dwayne's name, it will take you to a blog interview from 2008 with him discussing his style and influences and samples of his early work.

Conversely, clicking on the blog address takes you to the most recent post.

At the 2005 MONSTER BASH convention, I met a talented young artist whose work I enjoyed very much. (I previously blogged about him here .) I...

Very sad to hear. He was a major contributor and pilositive force to this hobby.
