      I bet it has a reserve and it doesn't meet the reserve. BTW I'd open it.

            Dear God, how can anyone be sure what is truly in there. He could have been swindled all those years ago with a good repacking and tape job. No way on Earth do i bid on a sealed case whose contents cannot be seen. That's a cool find if it's true, but who would take that chance?

              You'd have to decide where the real value is. The hopefully minty carded figures once you open it or the sealed case with the promise of minty figures. 30+ years of storage in unknown conditions. The cards could be warped or worse-moldy. I guess if you have the big bucks to buy it, it would be less of a risk.

                          I'd open it. The box alone is still worth some money, but at least you'd have access to all those beauties inside
