I just got back from spending a week with the in-laws- a fine enough expereince and very different for me. Driving around the small towns of northern Idaho and Washington State, I started noticing the plethora of home-made signs advertising yardsales. I also found myself focusing on every antique store we drove by, wondering if any one of them might hold some forgotten Mego treasure. I can't even begin to tell about the potential 70's finds I imagined as we drove by the Thrift, Salvation Army and Goodwill stores we passed.
I realized that rather than enjoy the different, small town atmospheres, I was looking at everything in terms of its Mego potential. I even started wondering what the quaint little Main Streets would have looked like back in the 70's.
I've noticed this also sneaking into my trips abroad, checking ForeignMego.com to see if this country or one by it might have produced a rare Mego or 70's souvenir. (you can only imagine how I've sidetracked my potential trip to see next year's World Cup in South Africa.)
Have you found yourself doing this? I think it actually might be a little too much.
