I couldn't afford to "collect" them all at the Time with what they wanted in retail,.. then threw what Comicbook Shops wanted for them with Diamond... Otherwise, I might have collected all of them,.. Except Aunt May,.. No love or wants on that figure at all.

    I like these figures...
Over all,.. it's neat to have them,.. & so Many to Have in the Cloth Formate... I think as far as Super Hero's go from 1 Company,.. that Might be the Most ever made in Cloth Scale.

Sure ,.. I kinda have issues with all the Chicks. Thier "***** On the Rag" very angry Facial sculpts are alittle less than to be desired,.. but the clothing is pretty neat. I am Disapointed that a Thing or Human Torch or , Beast, or Colossus, or a Surfer were Never Made for the Line... to me,.. those are No Brainer's.

With the Toy Market in General crashed imo these last few yrs,.. due to the economy,.. & Yada,... These can be had so Damn Cheaply because of the No Interest. I think it's great,.. for someone like me,.. "re-collecting" the ones I never Had.

All In All,.. I too Like the Hasbro Figures Better...
But I like ALL of the Many different character's that Famous Covers offer's too.

I wonder Just How many of these are even out there , from the origional Production Runs,.. with all the ones that Were Hacked up in the Name of Customs.

I think the only people who bought them were geezers like us. They were hit and miss for me. I have a tub with at least one of each complete stored away for my kids, but I may never get them out. My oldest already has weaseled some Megos and Doc Megos out of me, so the transition I had in mind for the FCs and DCs isn't going to be necessary. I still remember how disappointed I was when I found Spider-man at TRU and he was 9" tall. That I remember such a thing is kind of depressing in itself.

If you consider yourself an old geezer than I claim the title of uber-geezer (since I have about 10 years on you .. at 49)

BK, there was a cancelled Beast line with Thing, Beast, Man-Thing and Tigra. Too bad, it would have been a big hit.

I've always found it fascinating that the Fantastic Four are never fully realized in most figure lines. This was true with Famous Covers; Hasbro Signature Series fell short, and even the Marvel Icons have been slow to produce the team. What gives? I don't understand the marketing behind that. What is the rationale in selling only part of a team? Plus it goes against the grain for collectors. Who wants to buy a Mr. Fantastic if he has NO ONE to lead?
I have most of the Famous Covers (collectors disease, what can I say) but they see very little shelf display. I have noticed some display well with other lines, but on a limited basis. FC Falcon goes well with the Hasbro Cap as does Hawkeye as a fellow Avenger. So there are some keepers in there, but yes, quality was not job one for most of them.

Then you'd be just like Jack Benny (who always told everyone he was 39).

You can ask your father who he was...

Do they still watch movies on Beta too? When will people learn you can't be better than Mego. Especially with a small head. I did like a couple of them. Ironman and Red Skull are faves.

                      12 years? Wow time flies!

I like and still have Thor, Red Skull, Falcon and Doom. The rest all looked pretty terrible to me. I actually have the Hulk kicking around here somewhere. I keep him as fodder for my 3 year-old niece to play with when she comes by. His tiny head and huge feet are crazy.

Marvel/ToyBiz always seemed to start a lot of toylines off on the right foot and then drop the ball pretty quick. Captain America's sculpt and clothes were terrible, and the star was warped and the printing was cracked. Why would they do that to a flagship character in a premium toyline aimed at collectors?

I loved the Famous Covers when they came out. At that time I didn't have very many Megos and was so excited to be able to buy new Mego-like figures at the box stores. I found there peculiarities enduring. I had been on the Mego Museum back then, but there was such a backlash against the Famous Covers that I went over to the Famous Covers mailing list (Famous Covers Collectors and Customizers). When the line was canceled the list continued for a while but then fizzled out. Eventually I found my way back here.

You can still see my old Famous Cover page here: Paul's Custom Famous Covers

Now my Famous Covers are mostly boxed up, but my Megos are proudly displayed.

I remember your customs from back in the day. I sure made a lot of money off the Famous Covers customs that I made. I still can't figure out why people would pay so much for custom fc figures but not mego customs. I sold at an average of $175 a custom. I sold one for $250. It was a KILLER Man-thing custom using the lower legs from the movie Malebolgia figure on a FC Hulk base. Lots of real moss on that one. Take him to the swamp and you would never see him again! I think I have all the FC figures. But I don't have the LOTR figures that have the same body. I also remember the zappowbang website. It was cool.

I knew your name sounded familiar. Heck I got the beatdown on the FC list when I brought up the Hasbro 9 inchers. You'd think after the way some of them were treated here, they would have been more tolerant.
