    Fixing broken knee pins?

I know Doc makes replacement knee pins. Are they pretty successful? I've had a rash of Megos falling over and not being able to get back up.

Sometimes you'll get one that doesn't want to snap together well and keeps popping apart. This is usually fixed by swapping one of the two pieces with another. In other words, take the male from one set, and pair it with a different female. Sometimes you get a combo that is a little loose, so you just have to change up the combo. Other than that, I've had real good luck with them.

Sounds like a bad swingers movie, Dave.

everytime i repair mine, the leg is kind of loose. doesnt seem like a snug fit. but it's better than a broken knee. lately, i've just been replacing the whole leg.

As long as the question is answered, I hope nobody minds me hijacking this thread with a question that goes alongs these same lines of thought .........

Do you consider a Mego with a DM knee pin as having a repro part ?

Also, would you mention this in your auction description if the entire figure was 100% vintage except for that knee pin ?

              Just wondering.

I've used CTVT pins as well. A friend wanted to see The Human Torch so I removed him from his box only to discover like many torches one of his knee pins broke. I slapped in a CTVT and it worked fine. I have some of Doc's too but I (luckily) haven't had any other figures that needed them.

Do they make colored ones for the different colored bodies? red, green, aqua, etc
and what about the odd ones like Hulk?

Doc Mego has them available in whatever color you'd like in both regular and "large" sizes for figure slike Hulk & Thing

i would say that the figure had a replacement knee pin in the description.

Personally, not really. I just consider the piece fixed. Particularly if the rest of the peice is 100% original. Thank good replacement pins exist now.
Beats having to remove them from another vintage figure and thus ruin a vintage piece,
But I can undertsand someone thinking that and I would disclose it if ever sold my Torch with the replacement pins.

Are they all China made? I can't tell from the website.

The 8" pins are china made and they are the same color as Doc's bodies, so not a perfect match. IMO, they are a modern replacement part and just as if it were boots or gloves should CERTAINLY be disclosed.
