Mego Greatest American Hero Gallery Updates

Today we've got an indepth look at a Ralph Hinkley production sample figure from the Greatest American Hero line of toys. What makes this one different is that he's an earlier production sample, lots of big pictures and history about this neat figure.

Thanks for this, interesting read. I didn't know about the divot in the hand for prototypes/samples.
GAH is really a fascinating piece of Mego history, wow! Mego Museum rocks!!

Love it, just love it. Nice shot of the back of the figure to see the snaps. Does the body have a flesh pelvis or a blue one? Just wondering.

Heh, that always bugged me there wasn't a photo like that.

I was very careful (didn't want to break a snap seeing as I am a lummox) but I believe he is wearing black trunks.

Interesting that there are 2 snaps and not just one. It really helps with the look of the figure. Thanks for checking on the color.

Fabulous. Interesting about the divot. What's that about?

If these had made it into production and were as common as Dukes and CHips where do you think they would rank? I guess based on the superhero tie-in they'd rate pretty high, but I don't think Mego did a very good job with this line.

You know I've never been a huge fan of this figure but the more I see it and learn about it the more I do love it. Interesting and informative update!

I wonder that myself, I'd still have to own one but if they were "pin pin Spiderman" common we'd ikely have long "Do you consider GAH a WGSH" debates here with lots of folks saying "no"

I like the Bill Maxwell figure a great deal but I think Ralph has been cartoonized too much personally.

Did the gallery entry always have the shot of Ralph breaking through the wall. I seem to remember seeing that one before. It looks like that R has the grey belt and round buckle?

Good eye, I'd have never noticed that.

And Pam has the same problem that Daisy Duke has. What on earth were they thinking with their female figures?

The likenesses are pretty weak compare to what Mego could do, with Trek and Oz for example. Bill's white hair throws his decent likeness off.

But I would have killed for these as a kid. Loved the show.
