How rare are the Knights, Pirates, etc?

While WGSH, Trek, Apes, etc all get offered regularly on Ebay and this forum, I rarely see Knights or Pirates.
I know they were more popular here in Europe, but they're not that easily found here either!

I was hoping of eventually getting them all, but supply seems low.
Where have they all gone?

I do not see mint Pirates as often (although a sweet set was just sold on ebay), but I see the Knights fairly frequently. Being in Belgium, it might be easier for you to to check German ebay. I think they were pretty popular there.

Ever since CTVT's released their reproductions, the collectible value of the originals have went down substantially.

I think a lot of people are quietly sitting on their originals because they don't want to give them away at today's low prices.

That's why the originals have virtually disappeared, imo

Before reproductions, it was very hard to find mint complete examples, let alone boxed and as a result they did go for a premium. Deals existed but certain characters were always a pain to find.

Mike does have a point about people being skiddish about selling, I've been waiting 7 years for a MOC Allan Carter to go up on the block...

Yeah, but the Germans have never forgiven me for my grandfather being in the resistance. So they keep charging $$$$$$$$$ for them.
Believe me, Germans overcharge everything, and hate PayPal.
They're sometimes even asking for $25 a piece for the repros.

As for the Knights, I'm only missing Galaghad.
Don't have a single Pirate, and they're not so cool that I'd pay a ton for them...
