The MM is basically the socializing place for me when it comes to sharing info with others about collectibles. I do not have any friends outside the MM that are into collecting all the different collectibles that I collect. My gf collects Barbies and Coca Cola. I am pretty much on my own as it pertains to collecting Mego's. And I actually kind of like it that way. I don't have to decide who gets what when we find it that way. One friend I have is into cars so he took a little liking to my HW collection back in 1995. I gave my friend a set of 1995 HW's series cars NOT the Treasure Hunts. He is a cool guy, but he is NOT that cool to get a set of my 1995 Treasure Hunts. He ended up selling the cars not long after I gave them to him. Hey, it was cool. After all I gave them to him, and they were his to do what he wished. He just was not what I call a serious die had collector that I hoped that he eventually would be. He would rather put his money into his real car and that is ok with me to as I have real cars as well. Another friend of mine used to go to the stores with me at all hours of the night helping me rummage through cases of Hot Wheels and whatever else that was hot to collect at the time. He was even cool enough to bring me back a whole LARGE black trash bag full of Hot Wheels while away on his honey moon. He left Missouri and went to Florida for his honey moon. I must admit that it was a very BIG surprise for me as I would have never expected him to do anything like that especially while on his honey moon of all things. He told me that he and his wife stopped at a lot of stores on their way to Florida. He is a really good friend. We had a lot of fun. That is until he became married/buried (ahh what's the difference). (insert whip cracking noise here) LOL! It was really funny when I look back because I can remember him telling me that his then fiance was super cool with him being out with his friends doing whatever he wants to do at all hours of the night. My how things change. LOL!! He is still a cool guy and she is a great gal. He has kids and has a lot of responsibilities now on his plate. I still see him every once in a blue moon. We talk and reminisce about the good old days. All is good with our friend ship still. I won't hold his wife giving him a curfew against him. hahahaha LOL!!!

God! I love the single life. Girl-friends with benefits rule!

It's fun when you realize there are others out there who get "that feeling" when they acquire a long sought after toy. Most of my non-collector friends find the amount of things I collect a little crazy. It is nice to be around people who "get it" sometimes.

If it weren't for the Museum, I probably would not still be collecting. I had tapered off throughout the early 90's and then I stumbled on the museum, thought it was great. Heard there was a tape of commercials, got the tape, heard there was an email list, joined it. I thought "I love talking to people that share a love for these figures, like me, but I have all the Megos I want". Until I saw a Wicked Witch on Ebay (which was the only WOZ figure I didn't have so, okay, I'll bite) and then I saw Isis (ohh, if only I saw her when I was collecting...okay, I'll get it anyway), and then I saw Dracula (had all the monsters, except for him, can't disappoint Dracula).

So, I was pulled back in again.

I have one close friend who collects something (Star Trek) so he and I always have a lot to talk about. Not one person in my family ask me what I found at FX when I got home. Need I say more?

I'd still be collecting. Just wouldn't be enjoying it as much.

I know what you mean. That's why I started the bric-a-brac threads with photos of misc things I've been finding in boxes that I saved over the years. It's fun to see that others besides yourself have memories of these things.

Well, to be honest, until recently, I was never really all that social about my toy collecting. I think mostly because the people that I interact w/ on a daily basis aren't really into toys, (though they really get a kick outta my toyroom). I would do some social activities involving Star Trek, but not really w/ my toys. I would just quietly enjoy my hobby and thought for a LONG time that I was one of the few adults on this Earth who still enjoyed playing w/ toys. Of course, now that I've found the Mego Museum, that's all changed. (which is why the FIRST site I visit when I turn on my PC is this one. )

The social aspect is what keeps me collecting. I got the toy bug before I was online, but being around the Mego community is what keeps me interested. If not for that aspect, I would have bored once I completed the Mego lines and probably moved on.

The only other person that I have gone Toy Hunting with is my Sister. None of my friends collect Toys. As a matter of fact I don't think they really collect anything. They all know that I'm a Die Hard Collecter. I've been collecting Toys for a very Long Time. I Love them all so much but My MEGOs are by far my Favorite. This is why I come here. If it wasn't for this place I guess I would be the Lone Wolf of Collecting. Here at least I feel like I have the same interests as others

I'd still be a collector but not nearly as much of one if i didn't have people to share it with. Sometimes I buy more of 1 of an item just to give it to someone I know will appreciate it as much as I do. Plus I'd not know about so many things if it weren't for others knowledge. One of the reasons I've stayed here for such a long time is the friends I've made.

My Mego collecting nearly stopped when I left the online groups. My Mego collecting skyrocketed when I started hanging out socially (in person) with some other collectors and caught the bug again. We encourage/enable each other.
