I managed to "come to" in time to make the Toronto Toy Show this past Sunday. I've been going to it for 22 years now and it's gone from being massive to tiny to the moderate size it is now.
Always had a table at this show from about 1989 to 1998, then after that I just got trading rights, now I just show up at opening like everybody else. I went with the notion of buying anything I fancied, Shogun Warriors, Star Wars Stretch Armstrong, Mego, Joe, Bionic stuff, it didn't matter, I was going home with something.
Trouble was, there really wasn't anything of merit there. I missed a TMP Klingon for $3 by a minute, that was it. The highlight of the show was running into a dealer friend I knew, who has something I'm after at his house, that's it.
Other than that, it was a lot of loose stuff, a few over priced WGSH and Star Trek, like a $50 Captain Kirk. The kind of average Star Wars stuff, including a lot of reasonably priced c6 carded figures but nothing that made you think "Wow" or "amazing!" in the whole show. I brought my camera but didn't need it.
I don't know if it's the fact that US dollar has climbed in value again and a lot of people are leaving their "A" stuff to the interweb or the fact that there is an action figure show next weekend but man, the past show in November had me leaving with my arms full of stuff....
This time, my daughter (who tagged along) left with our only "score", a Snow White Barbie.
