I was following this auction all week and noticed how you kept outbidding the other guy with the low feedback. You unnecessarily raised the price to a level where you finally couldn't outbid the other guy. Had you remained calm and let the other guy be the highest bidder all week you might have sniped this figure for a much lower price. The winner may have had his snipe set at 2K, but that's only because the price was already at $1,600 or so when the auction was almost over. If you hadn't been raising the price constantly the bid might've been at only a couple of hundred bucks by the time the auction ended, like $400 or so. And just maybe the winner would've then only set a snipe of 1K or 1,5K, which means you could've won it then for less than the current final price.
Next time don't let yourself get dragged in such a bidding frenzy/war, play it cool and wait till the very last moment. After all, the winner isn't the one who was highest bidder all week, but the guy who bids the most at the end

Hey Meule Man, thanks for the analysis. I can see that being true. I have been running high on emotions this week, or high on Klingon dust perhaps. . .

And then the rationale I used: Boxed Lili Ledy Robin, found one about a year ago, $1500
I didn't buy it. . . .yet. Then comes along something to have relative value comparison, Boxed Basa Robin.

I appreciate the wisdom. I'll consider it well. Seriously.
            :-)

Haven't been around for a few days, just saw this thread for the first time now....wow!!

And my very first thought when I saw the initial post and the pic of that Basa Robin was...."Oh man, Thomas (Meule) is probably going completely nuts right now over this!!"

Thomas is 100% right on this. It's better to give the other guy a false sense of security, let his couple hundred bid stand for the whole week (this is assuming that no one else jumps into a bidding war with him). Guys like that never put in a high max to begin with. They treat it more like a real auction (which ebay really isn't like these days) and just increase their bid incrementally during the week whenever someone outbids them. Instead, in the last seconds, hit him with your highest max bid (the most you can pay). If you threw a $1500 bid in at that time, the guy wouldn't know what hit him. At that point, you just have to worry about other snipers with the same strategy and hope your max is higher than theirs.

I blame the dust I was snorting.

                  And also my insanity.

And perhaps having too much phun on my iPhone. (managed to get one in exchange for some web work! it's changed my life!)
                  The ebay app is coooool.

                  Ah, life.
