$1,676 for Robin? I am convinced that some of these prices for toys in other countries will go way down in another 5-10 years as these countries become more wired into the net and more items become available. I think they do have small production runs and will maintain value, but how much?
We will have to wait and see.

You might have a point in regards access to the net, but places such as Peru and S. Africa may also not have the same collectors (hoarder) mentality that we have, it might explain why there are few examples of foreign Megos in good shape.

Okay, I have to out myself. I was NOT the winner.
But I was the crazy fool who bid $25 under the final bid price! I had my high bid set and then had to go above that but ran out of time and was clearly under the high bidder, who probably had it set at $2K or sumtin.

I usally don't post stuff that's hidden, but it was so rare I didn't want everyone to miss out seeing it. I'm sorry if I messed up anyones chance of winning it.

Well; dust yerself off, scoop the pictures up and put 'em in your "virtual collection" file. Wait for the next one to show up.

Maybe it is time for a trip to Peru. Come to think of it, some good family friends are from Peru. I'll ask them about Basa toys the next time I see them.

I'm going to assume that Basa, like Lily Leidy, saw a much more limited run than U.S. and Canadian Megos. Aside from the population differences, both Mexico and Peru did not have the consumer base that the U.S. and Canada did in the 70's (or now). I think that's why its so hard to find boxed Leidy's. The smaller buying base led to a smaller production number. Of those produced, a smaller number were saved or kept in decent shape... and so and so on.

We may see more of these pop up as people in those countries get hooked into the internet and, hence, collecting communities, but i still feel these will be rare items.

I gave it a best shot guys.

I spoke with my wife afterwards and realized that I should have had the conversation earlier!!
Well, she was VERY supportive of my selling a bunch of stuff to make more room and raise the dough to blow on one super expensive piece! D'OH!!!

I'll be ready for the next one......

I think the thing I find most interesting is the fact that this figure is actually wearing a full green t-shirt top (in addition to the shorts) underneath his red vest.

Very different from the american version where it was just green sleeves sewn onto the red vest.

In this one regard, this rare figure is actually far more ACCURATE to the way Robin's costume is depicted in the comics and on the 60's Batman TV show.

As for the tall green boots and the wrist cuffs... well... let's just say they dropped the ball a little bit on that one.
