    Megos and Longevity

What is everyones opinion on the longevity of Megos? I don't mean their popularity, I means for example the strings going, decals falling off, elastic belts snapping, bubbles coming away from cards, etc. In a couple 100 years time will there still be any all original Megos left?

MEGOs breaking down is inevitable. We can slow it down at least, but I'm gonna say that they will be around at least another 100 years. Definately way longer than me. So I'm gonna enjoy them all while I can

That depends on so many factors: are they loose/carded /boxed, how are they being treated/displayed/stored away. I have no doubt some Megos will still be around in a couple 100 years, there's no reason there shouldn't if they are being treated well and stored away carefully.

When I saw this thread title I was thinking about my own longevity... I think Megos will make me live longer.

Even though my decals fell off long ago and my elastic belt is bulging, I'm not in any need of immediate restringing and my bubbles are still attached to my card.

                    Mego's are like Antique cars.

No matter how good you've taken care of a 1920's whatever car, today it's still going to look like crap unless it's been restored to some degree.

Consider a classic car's tire like a Mego elastic.
Both changed or restored does nothing to the value of the them.

Same can even even be said for a car's original paint.

I think in time (a long time) an original untouched Mego will sell for less then a restored one.

I guess it wouldn't bother me if a Mego was restrung, but I any paint retouching of either figure or packaging would be a turn off.

Think positive Hec! With all of the advances in medicine these days you may just be perserved forever. In that case I wonder if the MM post count will continue to go into the millions of posts or if it will eventually just say TILT.
