Character collecting, What is the appeal?

For me Green Lantern is my favorite comic or any other character of all time. He is the one I have devoted my fandom to. It is not that I don't like other stuff. I have thousands of action figures. And only maybe 30 Green Lantern figures. But I love everything about the guy, his costume, his powers, what his powers stand for. So I feel comfortable and justified in the fact that I have almost every Green Lantern figure out there (of course the JLU really screwed me over with the Hal Jordan's but I digress) and I am working on all his main titles and one day I might g for all his appearances but for now I am happy with my hunt

Batman is my weakness. I have tons of Batman figures masks anything. Although the newer stuff lately hasn't really caught my eye....

I collect a few different items. I have Gabriel Lone Ranger stuff, I have lots of mego stuff, and I have a huge collection of Minimates from all different lines.

On top of all this, I have a massive collection of everything Hulk. I love the green guy and always have. If it is Hulk related and released between 1962 and 2009, i either have it, want it, or its pre-ordered. I have lots of Hulk prototypes and even the massive Sideshow Premium Format Hulk thats in your avatar clemso.

I stray into other stuff, but my Hulk collection never decreases and I never get bored with it.

I don't have a whole lot of high end stuff and I try to stay away from the movie stuff, but if I see anything based on the comic book Hulk (and I can afford it) I'll buy it. I dabble in other superheroes (mostly Marvel) if I think it's cool.

I'm not sure what the appeal is. So far I've resisted that urge. I have to admit, I want everything Darth Vader. I don't buy ANYTHING, but I want everything. I've seen some people that have done that with Vader. When I see the collection pics I'm torn between total envy, and thinking what a sickness that guy has.

I, too tend to stay away from movie stuff. I am just not as passionate about that "version" of Hulk. I am a 70's & 80's comic book (Buscema, Severin, Trimpe) Hulk fan.

Well if you consider the Mego soldier ape a character,i guess i could be considered a character collector.I probably have about 20 of them.I finally had to tell myself,no more you have enough.But i don't listen too well ,even to myself so maybe a couple more,then thats it!

Go all out. I had about 30 at one point and at least one of each variant. The soldier apes are just too cool.

Less than 50 would not really be good enough for a garrison...

Which is why I'm calling my 10 the elite force!!

In all honesty, I have only one Mego soldier ape in the household, who was converted into a General Ursus...Hopefully this will change in the future as I get more time to customize.

I love all things Superheroes, but there is so much product and so many characters, you can't possible collect them all. I focus on my favourites. Mostly Spiderman, but I have a pretty large collection of Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, and The Hulk as well.

The first 2 Megos I had in life really weren't characters at all, (Lainie and AJ). I've always liked Star Trek, but didn't consider myself a Trekkie until my early 20s. Probably b/c I had the freedom and finances to become one. I do have a large Trek collection, outside of Megos. My bedroom is even done in a space/Trek theme. (not married of course). I also started getting into the Apes as an adult. I never really got them as a child. The concept was just to abstract to me then, I think. I love the Batman 60s series, and have a few things for that, 60s Spidey w/ a figure and TV series for that. I also like the first version of Superfriends, and (thanks to Mego73) have the whole series (save 1).

But if you wanna talk celeb collections, I have a Shaun Cassidy collection not to be believed!

OMG! Jessica you are deprived! You gotta have more soldier apes! I did a better head count and including 2 custom and 2 AHI Soldier Apes,i came up with 16. Four different variations and each variation is its own little "elite squad". They are all loose and not all are complete.I have to "piece" all my megos together to "make" them complete. OMG! i'am deprived,i gotta have more soldier apes!

I am kind of envious of those who can pull this off, I think a whole room of Superman or Spider-Man stuff looks really neat, I am just such a grabby kid I could never pull it off.
