Ok, how much does it really cost to ship to the UK?

I recently won 19 boxed Action Jackson outfits and the total cost for International Priority was $37.00 and that seems very fair to me, but today I saw one (1) boxed Action Jackson outfit on ebay and his shipping quote to the UK was $33.00???????
I have seen other quotes like this too, maybe not that high but how much does it really cost to send one Action Jackson outfit mib to the UK?

    Opinions.

The key is priority mail international - the base price is $25.00 because
of the cost of jet fuel. The best way to ship to Europe from the U.S.
is air mail. It takes a little longer, but is significantly cheaper.

The problem is that the U.S. postal service has an application on
ebay that calculates the shipping charge based on priority mail only.
Most sellers are just using the app to charge international shipping.

Priority International with Insurance is crazy-crazy expensive.

In today's hostile climate on ebay, a good many sellers (including me) wont ship international unless the package is insured.

Because of the high prices, I choose not to even bother listening to international buyers complaints about the high shipping prices -- so I just don't ship international at all.

I give my buyers exact PO quotes, and they make ME look like the bad guy.

Nope, it's not even worth it anymore

      No more international for me

I had a guy in Israel ask if he could bid on one of my loose Hasbro wrestling figures.

I told him sure, but I ship Priority International with Insurance, so before he bids he should take that into consideration -- it will be expensive.

          He bid -- and one.

I got him an exact shipping price ...

          It was like $23.00

He refused to pay saying I was ripping him off.

That was one of my last international sales on ebay.

It pushed me over the edge to domestic shipping only.

I get enough business from the USA.
I don't miss not shipping international.

It is always best to buy or sell in quantity for international. More bang for the buck with the shipping. I am never opposed to sending goods to any country. I do make it clear that the buyer must contact me for a shipping quote before they bid or the bid will be cancelled. Most international folks ask and then make their decisions.

For small and/or light items, you can use international first class. Much less expensive, but it DOES NOT let you track or insure the item. Actually, you can still see if it was delivered by checking the customs number, but USPS officially states it is a non-trackable service. I offer this to folks, but I let them know that any items shipped first class are sold 'as is'.

The only other problem with FC is that you cannot do it electronically. I use a postal scale and create most of my shipping labels and payments in house. Can't do that with int FC; you have to physically go to a post office to purchase the shipping.

From my address and for a package weighing 8oz (typical mego). prices are $7 first class, $13 priority small box, $25 priority international.

btw: the small box is a flat rate item. you can squeeze two megos in there if you are careful. Better than a padded envelope, but not as good as a larger box in terms of item protection.

            hope this helps

I think one of the USPS's problem's are they don't realize the close relationship the United States has with Canada and England.
They shouldn't treat these 2 countries like the rest of the world.

England and Canada are both closer (in miles) to me then some US states, for crying out loud.

With all the customs hoops and the high price international shipping is not worth the hassle IMO.

Yeah you're always looking at about $30 with Priority International to the UK...it sucks when it's more than the item won.

Priority Mail overseas is waaaaaaay too expensive.

Whe I ship to Europe for example...I offer the buyer First Class International...it's only a third of the price of Priority International...the shipping is almost as fast too.

I've done that dozens of times...and never had a lost package to date.

First Class International is the way to go.

                          All very true.
I know as I use it all the time as well.
You just have to be sure to realize that you have ZERO PayPal protection when you use it.
All the buyer has to do is open an 'item not received' complaint, and PayPal will give them their money back. As you have no way to prove it was delivered.
So, when selling on ebay to complete strangers, it's not worth the risk on anything of any value.
