What is the worst Mego product ever made? I think I may own it!

So...I'm out here in God's country on bidness.....southern Illinois....(man let me tell you....not much here!)

Anyway....I stopped by another antique mall today after striking out last week at the "Pink Elephant" Antique Mall north of St. Louis. (Actually, I didn't totally strike out since there was a soiled loose Captain Kirk doll for $9....but I left that for another lucky hunter. I don't know why but with the giant pink elephant and the 15' tall Paul Bunyan statue out front I was expecting more. Even better, the building was really old and had written in faded white letters GYMNASIUM on it in a early 1900's type font....I really thought I would hit gold....but I digress.)

So today I stop in another one and right off the bat I see a bunch of girlie dollies in a booth on my right so I mosey on over. For some reason this really cheesey looking boxed doll under a bunch of stuff hits my eye. Looks almost like a generic. I turn the box over and over as best I can without causing a plush avalanche and I see no brand markings on any of the sides or bottom. Then finally I'm about to walk on..... because I'm at 99% sure its one step above a Toy Crane Machine prize..... and something makes me do a double take and actually walk back to the stupid thing and dig it out and look at the top flap....sure enough, its Mego.

Here's one like it I found on Ebay:

1979 MEGO SWEET LICKS DOLL MIB UNUSED STORE STOCK - eBay (item 380108848469 end time Apr-05-09 12:20:30 PDT)

So....$8 later I own it and now I have to stuff it in my suitcase and bring it all the way back to Philly. I'm actually tempted to leave it in the hotel room. Its that horrible.

Why do I buy these things?????

Great story! I found a loose Mego Cher doll yesterday for $3 and yes, I put it down and walked away. I guess I'm just not as bad as you are ... yet.

Thanks Wayne Foundation 07 and Tim.

I wasn't going to mention this but maybe part of the healing process is honesty.

I'm actually thinking about buying the ebay one too so I can stack them up together "Toy Store Shelf" style with all of my other mego items.

        Yaaaaaaaaagh!!!

oww, the doll looks cute. Display that my friend and you will became a real chick magnet.
Don't feel bad, I join the museum in the begining to try to finish my 3.75 Mego non Micronaut Collection. At that time I only had 4 8' inch figure in my collection, 3 from my youth, two incomplete used bought from a 2nd hand store, one complete bought new back in 81 and a incomplete one bought from my Comic Book Dealer backing in 99 for a $1.00. The I bought a Friar Tuck complete in a damage box off the market please and look at me know. Thou, I do like the gem of my Mego collection, a $.89 pack of Mego Little Green and Tan Army Men.

That is the funniest doll I have seen in a while... thanks for the laugh.

It is a unique and different piece of Mego - madness!

              Dude.....seriously???

You have GOT to post a pic of that item. Better yet...sell it to me!!! :-)

              I love that stuff!!!

Now....before you guys show up at my house for an intervention....(which I'll admit I probably need)......you should know that I am proud of myself for successfully resisting the urge to buy that stupid "Baby Sez So" doll on Ebay for $14.99.

Even I have my limits folks!

Hmm. Sweet Licks. Hotel room. Alone with a doll.

                    I don't want to know.

I have to admit I have bought some weird things just because they were Mego...then wondered why. Man, that tongue is something else...hahahaha.

Haha...that reminds me of the scene in the 40 year old virgin where he's in his bedroom and Lionel Ritchie's song "Hello" starts playing.....

For the record though...I slept ALONE last night.

lol. Imagine if any of the plastic on that doll's head went zombie. It could be the next Chucky movie!
