Vans made sense because they left lots of room for graphics and stickers on the outside walls. I wish I had a few of them to customize.

That's a neat picture with an even cooler story behind it.

Reading about the VW Vans made me think about this one day in particular when I was waiting outside the recording studio with the rest of the band. I had my camera with me, so I took this photo of the guitarist standing next to his VW Van. It was the first day of recording pre-production tracks for Polygram Records for our first album.

I guess it's a snapshot of a time when I had a naive optimism about the music industry. I was just a kid starting out in the music business working with older guys had been doing it for years, so it probably had as much to do with the excitement of the day as anything, but I always loved this photo.

I love the Mego VW Vans! I had the Empire Spider-Man crime lab as a kid. Batman and Robin used it all the time (despite the color scheme and Spider-Man stickers), so I'm sure that if I had the Bat-van instead, I would have loved it even more!!!

As a side note, the guitarist from first real band I was ever in had a black and white VW van and I have great memories of traveling around in it.

Scott's Dinah vans would be killer for Iron man, or the Human Torch !
Not that either of those guys would NEED a van......just sayin'.

Okay, $$$ aside, the idea of mixing & matching the bodies & roofs for custom colors and customs is blowing my mind.

    Marvel, Super-Friends, etc.

Can you imagine an orange & green Mobile Octopus Lab with tentacles?

    (I'm getting woozy.)

Absolutely..!!! They were HUGELY in style..!! It's good they decided to keep it for the WGSH line. Kid's loved 'em, and it kept the overall line kid-friendly and enjoyable, at virtually no additional marketing/tooling costs.

Funny you should mention it, but yeah, I could see it TOTALLY working for the FF, in a very irrevelant, yet fun manner.

Very scarce, you wouldn't want to customize one of these, unless you have a lot of money to burn

I thought of Captain America right away!
It could have been worse...Mego could have made a Gremlin.
