Wow am I glad I found THIS board! Hi folks, my name is Richard. A bit about myself. I work at home as a freelance copywriter / freelance journalist. About to turn 42 years old this week. Now here's how all of that info. ties together. Because I work at home for myself, sometimes I have to force myself to stop working. So I decided I need a hobby.
But the problem is I've gotten bored with hobbies in the past when I tried to force myself to do something I'm not really interested in. Stamps, baseball cards, they just couldn't hold my attention for long. But suddenly, with my birthday coming up, I started thinking about the presents I used to get as a boy. And my number one passion then was MEGO ACTION FIGURES! So I started searching around and looking at pictures and Youtube videos. Suddenly it dawned on me: That passion for MEGO still exists! And so this was--and is the hobby that I can be excited about and never....NEVER....lose interest in.
I also have an interest in old TV shows and movies, so I think for right now, I'm going to focus on collecting Megos related to old 60s and 70s TV and motion pictures. You know, Star Trek, The Rookies, those Universal monsters, etc.
What a great birthday it's going to be....maybe I can even find a Mego on my birthday at a local flea market to help me celebrate my day. But my question for you guys: How do I really get started in the hobby? Where do I look? What resources can help me? Anxious to score my FIRST MEGO!
