Is the old Mego Talk still online somewhere?

I think it was totally shut down a few months to a year ago.

I tried looking for it myself sometime ago and it was gone.

I have the old link in my favourites but now it just takes me here.

Joe did say he was going to shut it down after about a year ... after the new forum premiered.

I believe they had to remove it due to security issues that came up several months ago involving an ex-member or two. Too bad, there was some good info there and I enjoyed going through old threads from time to time.

Was there no practical or cost-effective way to archive the mego-relevant threads? Like cjefferys said, I had quite a few good informative threads bookmarked, and was sad to see them go down the drain.

It was shut down after someone (former disguntled member? former disgruntled admin??) was trying to hack into accounts here. Caught me totally off guard one night at the wee hours of the night at work when I was emailed that my account was locked for repeatedly trying to log in with the wrong password. Joe had us all change passwords and said it would be shut down after that. The old galeries are still available though.

Yeah it sucks that they're gone....I liked to check the archives once in a while for old threads....

The old forums were compromised and it was basically a big giant list of members and their passwords at that point. That, and a couple other reasons, and it just made sense to finally let it go. Besides, most of the people that generated the info in those old threads are still here. If you want to know something, all you gotta do is ask!
