Thursday's Mego spotlight goes to Astronaut on the run, Allan Verdon. Many 70s kids fondly remember actor Ron Harper for other his other big genre role in the 1970s, Uncle Jack on Land of the Lost...
I can say it now- Allan was my rock. When I was trapped on that future world... well, let's just say I react a little more emotionally. Man, those apes p***-ed me off! But Allan aways managed to keep his head and get us through.

Of my apes figures, the tv show astros were high up on my favorites list. Alan was definitely my favorite astro but Ursus (with the helmet) was my favorite ape figure.
Always liked their clothing too. Not really show-exact but was still cool.
Unfortunately his moccasins disappeared so he's currently barefoot.

I like the TV series a lot and I love the figures from it (which is why I sponsored Pete Burke). I think the sculpts are good likenesses of the characters. But why didn't they make a decent shirt for Alan? Give him a pullover or put a snap on his shirt!
"Do you believe, you believe in magic?
'Cos I believe, I believe that I do,
Yes, I can see I believe that it's magic
If your mission is magic your love will shine true."
He was the only POTA human I had as a kid. And I too was always envious of his comfy looking attire. "Alan honey, wake up and put on your slippers. You have to get out of bed now, the gorillas are coming to try and kill you, we have to run."
