I have a boatload of these kinds of stories, I've always wondered if they are the sole motivation as to why we do what we do.

i definitely believe in your theory. i know for me, i've gone out and bought all the stuff i've ever wanted as a kid and more!!

I know I have bought modern toys I could probably do without simply because of similar childhood stories of being patient for a toy and then it not being there when opportunity to buy arose. I constantly get that "but what if it is gone the next time I'm here" feeling. blah.
