Mego of the Day: Captain Patch

Mego of the Day is Captain Patch from the World's Greatest Super Pirates line. He's the only character that doesn't have some sort of tie to either history or fictional pirate characters in the line.

Seriously, I think this is a great line. Oddly, it is the ONLY line of which I do not own a single figure. Probably because I don't remember them from childhood. Someday.

I remember seeing them as a kid, there was one store that had a great inventory of older megos. I used to flip through the boxes like records.

First it was Superheroes, then Robin Hood? Knights? Pirates? Wizard of OZ? ewwwwww!

            I remember having a couple of Pirates as a kid, but they weren't Mego's ... I don't think.

The ones I had ... one of them was a peg-leg and had a treasure map inside his hollow leg.

I sadly don't own any of the Pirates. I think they Look Great. I've been concentrating on other lines. I definately see these in my Future though

One of my favorite lines, although I have no recollection of ever seeing them in stores as a kid. Probably didn't discover Mego made them until the Toy Shop days.

Other Than the CTVT releases I don't have Originals of these. I need to get around to these in the future. I just an not a big fan of Type 1 bodies ..... I know a Mego Collector not liking Type 1's that much ...... Blasphemy.

Those were the Matchbox/Lesney Fighting Furies line.
I still have my Captain Hook and almost picked up a Pegleg a few months back. I don't know if they are all like mine but they have crappy bodies and can't even stand up by themselves. The legs are so loose on mine and as far as I remember he was always like that.
I'd like to get the Mego pirates but never see them complete for sale and a lot of the ones I have seen are trashed. I did luck out and got a nice Blackbeard but he's missing hat, belt, socks and all the weapons.
