Mego of the Day: 12" Killer Kane

Mego of the Day is 12" Killer Kane from the Mego Buck Rogers line. One of the nicer and often unfairly maligned figure sets from Mego. Kane here is a wonderful depiction of actor Henry Silva, sadly Kane was played by Michael Ansara in the subsequent television series which probably didn't help sales much.

    Ahhh, Killer Kane.
A great figure with a great likeness of Silva.

I didn't mind Ansara as Kane ...But I always thought Silva was better in the role.
    Silva seemed more evil sinister.
Ansara was just Klingon Kang without the make-up as Kane ... but then again, Ansara is Kang no matter what he plays

IMO, Kane was one of Mego's all time best 12" sculpts

The whole 12" Buck Rogers line is nicely sculpted, I keep picking away at it hoping to complete it someday. I don't mind either actor as Kane but I identify Silva with the role more probably because of the merchandising.

The series never explored the romantic angle between Ardella and Kane short of a few small hints.

I think it would have been better if they went beyond that.

It would make Ardella's love for Buck that much more infuriating to Kane.

In my opinion Kane (ok and Tigerman) were the best 12" figures Mego produced. WGSH exempt of course.

Great figure from a great line. Kane's outfit is so extravagant looking with the gold glitter and all. I really feel Mego went above and beyond with these. It took me two and a half years to complete the line, but they are my favourite Mego 12 inchers, after KISS. The non greying heads are a bonus.

Head sculpt is a great likeness to Silva

I read Silva is part Sicilian and part Spanish

I always thought he was American Indian
