Mego of the Day is the strong matriarch of the Walton clan, Ma Walton. I have no idea what this character's real name is but I do know she was also used as Mada in the One Million BC line.
This is one line that just doesn't do it for me. I had no interest in the show as a kid and I have no desire to own them now, Mego or not.
Still, it's no bad thing that these guys and gals were made. It really does highlight the diversity of the licenses that Mego had.
"I should say I`m very much cleverer than any of the people who put me here. As a matter of fact, I could leave any time I wanted. It`s only a doll`s house after all. Anyway, I don`t mind. I like dolls" - The Mad Hatter, Arkham Asylum.
Well, if that's a deal breaker, then I must be dishonourably discharged. You'll have to do that French military thing and pull the patches from my uniform. I just can't go there.
I have tried to get into the show a bunch of times and it just doesn't jive with me.

Even though I watched the show regularly as a kid and I love Megos and I have had mint samples of these guys in my house - they have never made it into my collection - I use parts or sell them off. The are just custom fodder. Not sure why - they just are.
I mean I never watched Starsky and Hutch (thanks to my sister) but I have them.
What i see in ma is Aunt May, Black tights for Uhura, shoes for the witch, body parts for the supergals etc.
No worries Brian. I'm one of those "collect 'em all" types. I did watch the show occasionally. And if this wasn't a Mego I would never own them. You gotta admit, thought, that Mego went all out on the truck, farmhouse and store.

Everyone confuses them with Little house on the prairie. But actually, just like in most rural 1930's America, She was quite simply referred to as "Momma" and her husband, "Daddy" (Olivia and John).

Absolutely, the truck has almost pulled me into the line more than once. I've seen it on Ebay or at a dull toyshow and thought "hmmmmmm" but somehow I've resisted.
For a while, a high school friend would tag along to toyshows with me. He used to joke "I'll know your collecting days are almost over when you buy those Walton dolls"

Same here, her head's a possible Nurse Chapel custom..
