Very cool week at the museum. Nice to know some Mego history has been preserved. Do we know who sculpted the ape heads Mego eventually did use?

It's ashame we don't have that Astronaut. I'd love to see who's under that helmet.

Great googly moogly! The stripes and patches look to be held on by no more than scotch tape!!!

The top here looks more like a shirt and jacket than the finished product....can anybody tell if they are seperate pieces or just stitched/taped/glued together?

Wish Mego had gone with the cloth cuffs instead of the fuzzy ones...they look better, and more movie accurate with the cloth.Except for ol' soldier ape, who looks like the only thing keeping his mittens on is the piece of string his mother attached to them.

Ever since I saw that ad in Famous Monsters, I thought "Boy it would be great to see these prototypes up close, but it's never going to happen". Well, never say never! I'd never thought I'd get a chance to look at these any closer then those little low detail black and white pictures in the ad.

Very cool and they did stay pretty close to the prototype with the end result

Nice way to wind up the glimpse at these one-of-a-kind (as far as we know???) treasures.
Of course now that the secret is out and these are so easy to fake, we will see all kinds of them for sale on ebay. LOL
