    Moving My Megos- The Inspection

How often do you go over your collection?

I'm moving to a new place this weekend, so I've been packing up the Megos I have on display (a lot of the collection is already in tubs in the loft). As I do so, I'm noticing lots of things that I had long forgotten. These things are now going to bug me for a while until I can, once again, let them go. I almost wish I hadn't looked at-
-my loose Falcon has a split on the bottom of his foot
-Batgirl has the purse, but the clasp is cracked on the back
-Wyatt Earp has had his belt repaired
    -etc. etc.

I'm also wondering how much is going to break in the move

Yeah, I don't like to look too close at mine. Took me ten years to notice my Blackbeard box had a repro insert.

Heh, I just noticed my black beard has no insert.

Most of my knights boxes look like I purchased with the intent to upgrade but I never did.

I hate moving but on the bright side it gives you a good reason to play with your figures while packing them for the move.

Oh, and it's been killing me lately to find the number of broken limbs--type 1s, females...they've just been standing there more or less untouched for so long, yet there they go. Thunk. My Jean Lafitte looks great, but he's more or less a rag doll.

I always thought of a move as a chance to improve my display set up in the new location.

I can fully relate...I have the best of intentions at the time, and forget about them over time. Crossing my fingers that nothing gets damaged or lost in the move.

                  Congrats on the new digs!

I went over my collection a couple years ago when I started working the accessory check section. I found imperfections I didn't know I had. Discovered my Robin, which was supposed to be complete and all original when I bought it early on, actually sported a Doc Mego belt. Drove me nuts until I could find an original replacement.

I've been doing the same while my house is on the market. I've discovered my Galahad's white armor has faded, Grandpa Walton has a broken leg, I don't have a T1 Cap and the list goes on and on. I probably haven't touched them since I put them in the display 10 years ago. So I'm not really surprised. But it's things that will bug me until I get them fixed.

About a Year ago I really started Organinzing my Collection. Putting all my Star Trek and WGSH etc in there own container. Kinda wish I wouldn't of cause all I could think about was upgrading certain pieces. It's driving me Crazy LOL

My collection has survived 2 moves without a loss, so wishing you the best

Think B.A. Where did you hide the Megos?

My wife and I bought our first House in June. Moving was not fun. I had luckily avoided mostly any damage at all. Except one of my two 9" Remco Dracula's suffered a Broken arm. It was a nasty fall. If he was not already the undead....... Anyways I was able to find him a new home with a member in the Forum.

If my wife had'nt allowed me to move my collectibles first , I am sure some other damage was almost inevitable. I was really lucky.

On a similar note, I took all my vintage Star Wars figures from their display case just last week to dust them all off. I thought I had only four or repro weapons, but thanks to some really good websites with good pics and info I now realise I have about 14 that need original weapons plus about 4 or 5 figures that really do need upgrading that I had forgotten about.
The repro weapons were a real downer because some were bought from dealers at toy fairs over the years that had stated `all original`.

Man , Thats Sucks. i hate when that Happens. Repro parts do not bother me at all unless It's passed off as all original , and I pay for all original and its not. Getting ripped off bothers me. I remember buying figure on Ebay . It was 1984 G.i.Joe Scrap Iron. It looked good in the picture , complete etc. Once it arrived , The Missle system he came with was like something that Seller put together with plastic and paint to look like the original accessory. I was ****ed.
