    Fantastic update !!!

    Question:
Did the DF Dalek toy actually do anything ?
    Was it battery operated ?

I think it was friction drive, like the K-9 DF did.

          not a pull back toy.

Both K9 and the Dalek had a friction drive. Ran with the idea of inertia. You got the thing going by giving it a push and it keeps on going until it falls off the table. Of course then you lose the little plunger thingy. Anybody got a spare little plunger thingy I can cast?

I remember being disgusted as a young kid when I finally got to see what they looked like on the inside. Eeew.

Everytime I watch Doctor Who and the Daleks I find it very hard to believe Ian (or anyone) could fit inside a Dalek.
                  The Mutants aren't very big.

when you look at the Thal history tiles the Dal mutant doesn't look nearly as tiny as the way they were shown later (Genesis or the modern show). and they were basically Humanoid shaped.

and William Russel wasn't short, I would have bought Bill hartnell more as the one inside. Someone must have realised it didn't "fit" (pun intended) that an average person could drive one as I don't think that gimmick was ever used again

Actually, there was an old classic series episode where someone went inside of a Dalek.
I don't remember if it was in The Daleks -- which if it was, it really doesn't count -- being the same story as DWATD

I don't know why, but I keep thinking it was a Pertwee story ?

Nope; wish I did, 'cos it sounds like your K9 and mine are both earless. The black antennae nose is also a bit shorter on my good dog.

Lemme know if you ever find any. I will post if I do.
