Cyberman: The Threat from the Outer World!

Today's gallery in our Mego Doctor Who "upgrade" (I'm a clever boy!) are the Cybermen, while the figure isn't really show accurate, it does kind of reflect the charm the original series had.

A very cool figure. It's amazing how fragile this figure is.

I think these are wonderful, but like you say Scott, fragile...such a shame the silver peels off and stuff with age.

I noticed in one of the photo's it looks like his head is graying ...

I don't know why, but I never thought the Cyberman's head was vinyl.

I hate the fact his uniform covers his hands.
Pure laziness on Mego's part, imo

Totally Agreed. Both the non-articulated Leela legs and the ultra-flimsy Cyberman were somewhat below par, another '70s example of the boxes looking far better than the actual figure.

A bit more attention to detail/creativity (like on the 9" Flash line) would have done wonders. Luckily the recent Mego-scaled Daleks and Cybermen are much improved..:

Which reminds me.. I have to buy some more of these real soon. It's lonely to have an 'army of one', despite my being in the Army Reserves.

Besides, the 'Cyber-Rifle' with this figure totally rocks..

Personally I'd rather have the DF version, the JNT era Cyberman always left me cold and those figures have almost no articulation.

Product Enterprises kept promising a 12" Cyberman based on Revenge but sadly it never happened.

I'm kind of surprised, considering all the accessories DF gave to the Doctor, they didn't give the Cyberman a li'l Cybermat.
I think Revenge was the last appearence of them, so this Cyberman should have one.

                  hiya David,

Not sure what you mean by non articulated. Underarticulated? These have a cut joint at the hip and bendy type wire knees. They are definitely articulated. They just don't have ball joints or swivels. These were far more articulated than, say Kenners large Star Wars Dolls. Considering that most girl dolls were competing against Mattels Barbie at the time, I think Megos Leela and Dale were great. Of course, this probably should be in the Leela thread.

As far as the cyberman outfit. The closed mitts are sort of inexplicable. If you look at the Oz line, the Lion has the same treatment (but then he has paws). However, the Tin Man has silver hands. Not sure why Mego didn't follow suit and cuff the sleeves with some silver hands, but there must have been someone in design that thought the mitts looked good. It is VERY Megoish. Too bad they couldn't find a plastic laminate that could stick to the cloth a bit better. My cyberman leaves little bits of himself around whenever I move him. I am considering encasing him in a box of some sort just to contain the shrapnel. I am pretty sure Mego was not that interested in the longevity of the materials to this extent (30 years).

Still a very cool figure dispite the flaws, and it just makes it that much tougher to find a minty one.

The Cybermen are on my List of all time Favorites. Only second to the Daleks. I Like this Figure alot even though he does have some issues. I still want him. Heck, I want them all
