I'm not sure but I think this is mainly for the flea markets that we have a lot of in Texas that get bulk clothing/toys and could come from anywhere. If they contain lead and are unsafe they should not be sold here.

In a way i'm for it because it helps protect the kids from substandard and possibly dangerous materials....

On the other hand, the people who are buying clothing and toys on fleamarkets are probably doing so so because they cannot afford to buy them at retail.

It's a problem not so easily solved.

Do you take away the food because it might be harmful or let the poor person absolutely starve without it ....

I agree with the testing. I think this is a good idea. However that being said this should be limited to new products sold , not old products found in flea markets or secondary markets. I am not sure this will negatively affect any new product though. After the scare a few years back. I think the toy manufacturers realized they needed to make sure they sold safe product or they would'nt be around long. I know Hasbro fixed their problems , pretty sure Mattel cleaned up their mess too. Maybe some of the lesser toy companys might still have some issues though.

I heard on the radio, that a excemption was made for 2nd hand/thirft store. The law only apply to new sold in stores like Walmart, Target, Wal-Green, K-mart, Fred Myers, Etc...

I went to Webster, TX there's have a big Thrift shop. I bought few vintage toys, complete set of classic Star Trek movies (1980 - 1988) part 1 - 6 VHS video tapes with logos on it's original boxes and few TOS Star Trek VHS video tapes, few clothes, TV cabin with excellent shape but minor schatches, can be used old English polish color tone to cover the scratch marks. That TV cabin went for 45 bucks, wow... that was 250 when it was new! I saved 205 bucks in my pocket! Also other stuff and I brought my stuff home and washed 'em with antibacterial soap and hot water to rid germs and virus, etc then spray Lysol - (can't remember the correct spell, I meant it can kills 99% germs, molds, etc) on the stuff before I use them in my the Mobile Home.

I think in Houston, TX area is legal to selling stuff in the Flea Markets, Thrift Shops, Garage Sales, Yard Sales and others. I went there and no problems to selling, trading and buying stuff but I'm always washing my hands before I eat.
