MEGO: Resolutions 2009

A whole new year awaits us all, hopefully with all new opportunities to fill those holes in our collections.

I resolve to:

1. Finish my BASA Collection. I only need the elusive Batman. I think there's 3 more people who need him to finish their sets also.

2. Finish my Teen Titans. Seems like I'm always second on all these. Always close, but no cigar.

3. Finish my Ledy Supergals. This may be the toughest goal I've set. I need Supergirl, Batgirl and Catwoman. Any ONE would thrill me for 2009.

4. Hang more display shelves in my toy room. They're all starting to get a bit bunched up.

5. Save MONEY with hiddens. After my annual tradition of "No Ebay" during Christmas time, I've gotten a bit rusty.

6. Work my Mexican connections for Ledy Fist-Fighters. These suckers are tougher to find than a complete Zorro. Don't believe me? Just try and find a Ledy Iron Man or Green Arrow. I dare you. Then contact me when you do.

I'd love to hear your new areas of focus for the new year. It's interesting to hear all the unique directions people can take this hobby.

I'd like to finally pick up a Peter Parker. That will be the only goal I set. I prefer to take it one thing at a time.

I'm Aiming for a Very MEGOrific Year as Always.

My New Years resolution is as Follows:

1. My Main Collection Priority is to Maintain focus on The WGSH Line. I've been Slacking and getting off Subject so I'm planning on Focusing More on my All Time favorite Toy Line.

2. Work on getting More POTA. I just started Collecting this Line and I'm pretty happy with what I have Now but Theres always room for More.

3. Look for Great Bargains on other Lines that I'm interested in such as 3 3/4 Buck Rogers and 12" Wonder Woman.

4. Finish my Star Trek Aliens line. I Just need that MOC Romulan. Finish my WGSK with a MIB Galahad.

5. Take it Slow. Theres no Need to Rush, It will come in time. Remember it's a hobby, so have fun with it.

3. Peter Parker's pants My Parker is original except for the pants.

My resolution is going to be "Thinning The Herd". Back to basics approach for me. Gonna be weeding some stuff out of the collection that I didn't really need to begin with but found and put together for a decent enough price to justify keeping it in the collection. Might be some hard to get pieces going up this year on the Mego Museum from the collection. Who knows...maybe some Alter Egos or variations that may just get weeded out.

1. Get back to customizing -- I have a few items that are just waiting to be finished/started

2. Replace repro-accessories with originals. (as many as possible).

3. Smirking Mr. Mxyzptlk, (I need him to complete my WGSH)

4. Sell and Trade what I am not displaying or using for customs.

2. add a loose FF CAPT AMERICA to collection
3. make a FF SHAZAM custom

As far as Vintage Goes... I just wanna Score a Minty Mint Loose Mr. Fantastic & Ponch ( Yes,.. I said Ponch ) when cash Allows Me. This yr... Maybe a Titan too. Maybe another Thing too,.. I have 3 so far,.. & will buy another one, I know it.. the Different arrangements of his suit are addicting to me.

1. Resume Mego buying! After going all-out in 2007 I didn't make a single Mego purchase last year unless you count one EMCE set.
A combination of rising gas prices and crushing debt (not because of Mego) pretty killed most of my buying power. Plus as stupid as it sounds I was devastated by the closing of a childhood mainstay that had some heavy Mego association. That really bumbed me out. I still miss the place but I'm over it and I'm lucky to have had it around as long as I did.
Gas is down and most of my debt is paid off now so I'm looking forward to to making some new acquisitions. I probably won't be able to go as heavy as I did in '07 since I have to balance it out with other things but I should be able to add some pieces this year.

In 2009 I hope I will be...
1. Adding a few more villains to my custom Batman 1966 set.
2. Adding a few more monsters to my movie monsters set.
3. Scoring a Basa Batman and Robin.
4. Finding a few more Ledy's.
5. Starting a Lincoln monster collection (those are hard to find and expensive ).
6. Finishing my toy room
7. Finding a second and third job to pay for all of that

2. Add missing parts to some of my WGSH.

3. Supergirl, Conan, a good Green Arrow, Tarzan, Falcon, Aquaman, Isis and Dracula are all on my list.

4. Non Mego - recently I have started on the 12" line of vintage Star Wars figures. 10 more to get - it should be fun.

I'm finally going to expand my toy room into a fully functioning office, adding about 30 square feet in the process.

If something off my wantlist happens to flop along to ebay and I have any money left, I'll try to buy it.

with your mad sewing skills you can have very nice semi original pants.
someone posted an AE parker wearing pants that were made from a captain america outfit. looked like the real thing to me.
still not original but really nice
