While I am elated and excited to discover that Mego hired an actor to play Action Jackson and do store appearances, I am a little confused at how Spider-man could be in Chicago and California at the same time.
These are the coolest things I have ever seen. One has to wonder what the AJ costume looked like, here is a recreation of that event:
That's James aka Garagesale on the Museum message boardsas Action Jackson in our reenactment.
I really feel sorry for the guy playing Action Jackson (not James - I mean the actor
at the actual appearance) he must have had the worst day of his life.
He gets dressed up in some goofy outfit expecting to be mauled by kids. When
he and the other actor dressed as Spidey come out, hundreds of kids are
cheering them. And THEN all the kids surround Spidey and he is completely
ignored. The poor guy in the Spidey suit feels like Paul McCartney in 1964,
gasping for air in a sea of short fanatics. The guy in the AJ outfit is just
a spectator. Maybe one or two weird kids ask for his autograph - maybe.
It must have been the biggest ego crushing day of his life.
On line to meet the guests, a clueless mom says to little Billy: Wow, Spider-guy and Action Jack! What are their powers?
Billy: Spider-MAN can walk on walls, shoot webs, and swing through the city and has super strength, and he's really smart, and he takes photos and does science!
Mom: Wow, and Action Jack?
Billy: He, uh, wears different clothes and has lipstick.
I wonder who the actor was that played AJ was and how desperate he was to earn money?
