I used to have that Tonka Winnebego

Surprisingly, Mego's fit in it pretty good.

I have to agree with Mitch here. There is something pure about the 1st release of the first 4 figs, elastic belts, large "S"'s Yellow legs, skinny boots, especially seeing original ads with the ridiculously low price points.

Well gotta go...gotta get back to work on that Time Machine....

I'm really happy to hear it Mitch, when I layed out this month I thought "Are people going to dig this or are they going to say "enough already"?"

All I can say is, there are some really fun things coming up, especially tomorrow. I cannot wait to see people's reaction to this.

That's a great drawing. There seems to be a lot of variation in the art--like it was done locally and not from a Mego Repro book. That's my guess anyway.

Batman isn't going to be so happy once Aquaman gets done tripping him!

Love all these ads as well, and look forward to many more!

ROAD TRIP!! Hey, too bad Captain Marvel hasn't been released yet. Just get your Mentor figure and hit the road in that Winnebago!
"Sport" Wheel? Is that the stripped-down version of Big Wheel? LOL
I had that FP phone and the corn popper. Man I used to love those when I was a kid. I even bought them for my kids. They redesigned them now, though. Not the same anymore. I even had one with Little People figures that would pop up when you rolled it.

I'm pretty sure they traced the photo in the 1973 catalog:

                          http://megomuseum.com/catalog/1973/wgsh.shtml

It's probably one of the few images they had at the time!

Yeah, that's definitely the source--I was just wondering if the tracing came from Mego or was done by the local newspaper/ad agency. We only have repro art books for 77 and 78 I think. I wonder how early Mego was sending those out.

I have to think that the one thing Mego was likely very good at was providing line artwork, it had been their bread and butter so long.
