Pretty cool little robot book at Big Lots

If you happen to have a big lots store, you might want to check the books section for this little robot book called "Super #1 Robot". It was only $5. The little robot book is pretty cool. They only had the one book at my Big Lots.

Oh yeah, "Super #1 Robot" is a great little book, I bought it when it first came out. There is an informative introduction, but it's mostly photos. But the photos are excellent and cover tons of Japanese robot toys (and some kaiju) from the early 70s to early 80s. It's a steal for five bucks, it's little but thick. I should see if I can find an extra copy (the one I have now has some water damage).

BTW, that's an Ark diecast King Kong on the cover. And there is even a Mego connection to that toy. At the time, Mego had the license to King Kong merchandise (because of the '76 version of the movie), so Ark had to sub-license Kong from Mego. There is a close up photo of the back of the Kong toy on the back cover of that book, and "Mego" is clearly seen printed on it.

i have that book too and love it! it's very cool with very clear pictures!
