Going through tricorders from the Mego Warehouse return dept

So...I'm looking through what's left of the Star Trek Tricorders from the Mego Department Store return find I have looking for a nice one to send to a friend today....and I just so happen to pop a tape in one to see if it works and guess what comes out? 1970's rock baby.

That reminds me that most of these were bought and played with before being returned. There are all kinds of really neat things recorded on the blank sides of these Star Trek story tapes. I've had Christmas sounds...music...people pretending to be Captain Kirk (probably the funniest one I've heard), etc.

One of these days I have to get out a regular cassette tape player that won't eat these and play them to see what's on them. Maybe I could put it on Youtube or something.

    Fun!!

That's too funny. I remember trying to record songs from the radio, but through the air. You know, by holding the tape recorder up to the radio. Talk about analog!

I have plenty like that. I just dug mine out recently and was listening to them. Man they are bad. I used to also do little "shows" and do all the voices of the different people who would 'call-in' to my show and request songs; some of which I sung myself acapella. LOL
I am trying to figure out how I can edit these (lots of crap to cut out) and burn them on CD so I can send them to my sister or just plain enjoy them once again.

Shoot, I still do that...just put my boom box up to the PC speakers and voila! Y'know I'm a student of the old school. I checked the tape in my tricorder, and there's nothing on the other side. I thought I'd find little kids voices on there or something, but nope.

I remember taping TV Themes off of the television way back when. I'm sure I still have that tape around somewhere.

Is there any way of putting some of that stuff (like the kid pretending to be Kirk) on the net for all to hear?

                    We ALL did..!!

Actually, I still keep a treasure box of old cassettes.. I have a bunch of my mom sending them to me in Germany when I was stationed there in the late 80s, but the cool one was of 'Stowaway to the Moon' (anyone remember that television movie..?) and one with a radio Beatles weekend with Watergate headlines at the 'top of the hour'..

                    Great stuff to keep.

What would be even cooler is if they are posted on youtube and someone recognizes themselves and posts that that is them
How cool to hear yourself when you were kid like that after so many years

Actuallly over the air recordings of Dr who by Fans is why we have so many of the lost episode audio now remastered and cleaned up with digital technology. I had recorded Sontaran experment from PBS. during the recording my dog started to bark, Mike was a big german shepherd with a Deep voice. I found that tape after he passed away and heard his bark one more time it was a very special moment, I am tearing up now and he left us on mothersday in 92

I still have my brothers reel to reel taping recordings when all the old shows were FIRST ON. (T.H.E. CAT, GARASON'S GORILLAS, MANX, THE GREEN HORNET, BURKE'S LAW). I too did the same making the family walk softly, and not speaking when I sat in front of the 25" inch B&W Zenith with my Craig cassette recorder with a mic. Of course most of the recordings were terrible, picking up an annoying "buzz" from the speaker. That was until - to my mother's horror I opened up the back of the set and used wires with alligator clips to attach the mic directly to the speaker terminals and patch in direct. We were able to talk, move around and the receiver was hung back onto the phone. Sweet freedom, and quality recordings.
I still have the PLANET OF THE APES TV series on cassette, the films and other goodies.
