New Jersey is the Forbidden Zone

I am watching Beneath the Planet of the Apes right now with my daughter.

Brent escapes from the Ape village (not really a city) and winds up
in Queensboro Plaza which is on Long Island close to Manhattan.

He walks through some tunnels (too nice to be maintenence or
air conditioning tunnels) and ends up in Manhattan.

Does that mean Nassau county is Ape City and the Forbidden Zone
is New Jersey? Dr. Zaius says that it's a two day ride from Ape City.

It's very hard to follow because if you look at the first movie, Taylor ends up at the Statue of Liberty ...
Assuming Taylor was heading north (by the way the statue is situated on the beach) ... We know the Forbidden Zone was south of the statue --- but how far ?

I always assumed they landed somewhere SOUTH of Washington DC ... and the Forbidden Zone STARTED in DC and went on up to NYC.
The caves where Taylor found the "mama doll" was in Washington.

I figure if there ever was a super-war ---- Washington to NY would be ground zero

Fox Movie Channel is doing "Channel of the Apes" all weekend.

My friend told me that there was a segment between movies on
licensing that features Marty and Ken Abrams talking about Mego.

Yeah, I just watched that, "Impact Of The Apes".

What's also interesting is that in the TV series when Burke and Urko are trapped undergound, they're trapped in a BART station (Bay Area Rapid Transit), that's kinda like a subway station, and that was the Forbidden Zone and Ape City was near that. So maybe the Forbidden Zone is really in Oakland.

I've always rationalized that Ape City was in NJ, wasn't sure about the FZ but Paul makes sense.

In the TV Series, Ape City is in California however, I never got much feeling that Verdon and Burke ever left the West Coast.

If you watch POTA with the scene in Cornelius' office when he is showing Taylor the map you can see that it is a map of Long Island.

I love it! I live in Ape City!!!!!

It makes me wonder if the rest of the world in that future was really
wiped out and ruled by Apes - or is NY and NJ the only dytopian
area and the rest of the U.S. and the world was still civilized and
human.

After the fall of Rome and the onset of the Dark Ages (thank you
History Channel International) the Roman civilization was still thriving
in Constantinople. Is Ape City the rundown neighborhood of 4000 AD?

in the Second Episode, The Galdiator, of the POTA TV Series. Urko has a map of the west coast of CA to Mexico to TX on the back wall of his office. I will have to dig out my old POTA Magazines by Marvel, that were made in the Apes Hayday. I remember one of them having a Timelime printed in it. It explained the last movie took place in CA and the apes migrated east, settled in NY and over the years lost contact with the other ape settlements. It also states that the cult of Mendoza, fearing a ape attack, also migrated east along with their Holy Bomb to NY via the underground transit tunnel that linked the major US Cities.

Watching Planet of the Apes tonight I got a good look at Cornelius' map.

It shows half of Long Island and Westchester and New Jersey.

Northern New Jersey is identified as Ape City with the Bronx and Westchester
County as the Forbidden Zone. Cornelius points to Long Island Sound as the
place Taylor's ship landed.
