Accessory Check Update- Uhura, Mugato, Cheron, Soldier Ape, Cornelius

Just finished up updating AC with the most recent EMCE releases for anyone interested. Special thanks to Doc for sending these items to me so I could tear them apart and compare all their parts to originals.

    Female body

    Dave,

One thing you didn't realize is that the legs on the EMCE/DM female
body snap into the pelvis - bringing the legs together and minimizing
the wide hips. This was done so that the figure could display nicely
as well as holding a sitting position better.

You're right Paul, I didn't realize that about the female body. I stripped it down, moved it around, pull on the neck plug, popped a head on and off of it, but never actually tried to yank a leg out! Heh. Pretty cool change, although while that is cool, my favorite change still has to be the new knee joints.

Description changed to reflect this info!

Me too. Definately one of the resources I consult on a regular basis. Thanks for all the hard work you do to keep it updated.
It's not a doll it's an action figure.

In reference to the M-16 rifles:
I have original Mego rifles made of two different types of plastic. I always thought they were only the more flexible type but I've recently received several made of a more brittle (inflexible) type of plastic that kind of "clinks" when you jiggle a few in your hand (that's the best I can describe it, LOL).
They are clearly marked Mego on the stock.
The accessory check doesn't mention this. It says the repros are the hard plastic.
Just trying to avoid any confusion.

Rich, this is always good feedback. I rely on the members here for information because I certainly don't know it all. It is probable over time the material used to make the M16s changed, and it's even probably that this is a common knowledge variation that I just didn't know about myself. All of mine are the same, but all of mine are from POTA figures. Perhaps there was an AJ run that had the harder plastic. What does the string look like?

I got a little nervous when i went to grab the rifles. The last three I got with a playset were not marked Mego but I KNEW I had two different types clearly marked Mego. The first one I got was with an AJ outfit set (sailor).
Anyway, not sure if the picture helps but the top one is the hard plastic and the bottom is the common softer plastic. Both are marked Mego on the stock and both strings are indistiguishable from each other, same color corded thread.
All the ones I had previously were POTA so I would say the hard plastic ones are probably AJ and earlier but I wouldn't be surprised if they came with early figures or the treehouse set?

Krypto, you're correct that the soft plastic rifles were the ones the APES figures/playsets were (usually) equipped with and the hard plastic ones were from the A/J outfits... I did buy one Soldier Ape that had the hard plastic M-16 though... I remember that because I was ticked when the muzzle broke off...

First time I came across one of the hard ones I thought it was a fake. It was shiny and felt like it was going to break if I put any stress on it. But it was clearly marked Mego so I assumed it was an earlier formulation.
Now after I posted this and was questioned about it, I went to grab the 3 I received with the playset I just bought and they were UNMARKED and I thought "oh crap, I just made a fool of myself", LOL. So those last 3 I got ARE repro and are the same material as the hard plastic REAL Mego ones (AJ issue).
I should've taken a shot of three (repro, hard Mego, soft Mego). I will try to do that later tonight and repost that.
