Last Wednesday November 12 of 2008 I had the honor to meet and visit perennial Mego collector Ray Flores. He posts at the Mego Talk boards as "Ray" along with a Flash Gordon ID picture.
I'll definitely fall short describing both: what a great guy Ray is, and how amazing his collection is. Think about any Mego, Mego-Like or Captain Action figure and rest assure Ray has it. Among the holy
grails I could appreciate were: Palitoy Zorro, Mego 12" Mighty
Mightor, Mego Greatest American Hero, All (and I really mean ALL)
Captain Action figures and costumes (MIB), GI Nurse and of course the
Ideal Super Queens. Ray's collection has to be one of the most
complete and valuable out there (although he is too humble to accept
it). I'll encourage anyone from the Mego Talk boards who happens to visit Puerto Rico, to stop by at Sabana Grande PR and meet Ray.
I am very grateful to Ray for receiving me at his home, for his
hospitality, for sharing his collection with me and more importantly
for sharing his knowledge with me. It is unbelievable that such a
great human being, such a great collector, and such an incredible
collection, existed just a couple of miles away from me. I have
likewise extended Ray an invitation to visit me and appreciate my more
humble collection. Hopefully he'll plan to do so soon. Last but not
least I am very grateful to this Boards as it was here that I met Ray and many other great folks (Mego geeks just like me). Later,
Ariel
PS: Ray, thanks for the cool Mego 12" Buck Rogers and the CA Robin
belt. You are the best!
