Crap! Now I have to come up with the money for a NYC trip for the wife and I, becuase there's no way I go to NYC without her (she'd kill me), and no way we both get near Broadway and not see a half a dozen shows. My wallet curses you, Doc!

I just booked a room at the Best Western - about half-a-block from the Javits Center.
It was $139 a night.
Go to Hotels - Hotel reviews from people like you - Welcome to hotels.com and enter Javits Center as the location. I saw a Comfort Inn
on W 36th for $125 a night for Friday-Sunday.Comment

I wasn't planning on going-I hate crowds-but the pressure is mounting.
For those of you who may be put off by the price of hotels in Manhattan, I recommend looking at prices in the suburbs where subway train access is usually very good and perhaps rooms are cheaper. If you can get a room in Forest Hills, Kew Gardens, Elmhurst or Rego Park, NY a train ride to NYC is usually 30 minutes.
If you check Flushing, NY it's usually 1 hour by local train, the #7. Flushing is like China Town in the suburbs here but there are some decent hotels like The Marriot. The advantage to the #7 is it's elevated and before it goes underground you are treated to vistas of Old and New Shea Stadium and some really great views of Manhattan.
You can access train info here:
MTA NYC Transit - Subway Service Information
You could stay further into Queens or even Long Island and take the Long Island Rail Road, LIRR. Travel times are longer and the fare is more money for this train service, ( $5 and up per trip compared to $2 per ride on subway), but those trains are better quality and have less stops:

You could also stay North of NYC. Maybe there is a member here who lives upstate and could recommend a place to stay? Here's the map but I can't say what areas are good; just don't get a hotel room in the Bronx:
