    Mego of the Day: Dracula

Not surprisingly, the Mego of the day today is Dracula (Monsters at Halloween, what a brave choice) not only the toughest Mad Monster to find but the originator of that whole "Tuxedo shirt" fad in the late seventies. Who knew?

This was actually the first Monster I acquired as an adult collector. I found one at the Brimfield Flea Market in MA for $25 around '95 or so. At the time I wasn't sure if I had gotten a good deal or not. Easily one of my favorites.

When I first made the little Mego warehouse find, they were out of Dracula. It took me a long while to find one and I knew a collector who told me "You'll be a little disapointed in him"

I have to admit, I was but now I think he's great.

my man, dracula. i don't even mind the blue vest although it makes him look more cartoonish. he also has the people's eyebrow thing going on.

Never had any of the Mad Monsters, but I wish I had. I recall Batman fighting Dracula a lot in my "live action" play scenarios, so a Mego would have ruled.

He fought many a hero back in my childhood days. And with so many monster comics, etc. coming out back then, he seemed a natural choice for Mego collection. I loved monsters as a kid, but Dracula always seemed sooo much cooler than the other monsters. Frank, Wolfie, etc, were all just monsters ripping things and people apart. Dracula had style and he knew how to handle the ladies.

As an adult, I wanted Drac more than any other monster, but, fo r some reasom, he was the last one for me to get.

I love the Mad Monsters. My brother and I had them all, except Dracula, when we were kids. I always thought he was a little silly looking. But, I'd love to have one in my collection.

Still have my original in pretty good shape considering I had it as a kid. The monsters were some the last Megos I got but I never got the Mummy until this year. I really played the apes nearly to death (lot-o-lovin on them, LOL) but I took good care of the monsters as I got them when I was a little older and was starting to take care of my toys better.
Always thought they were a tad disappointing as they weren't the familiar movie versions (which were immensely popular back then ergo these Mego 'knockoffs') but still liked them either way.

Not the best 8" (or even 9") Dracula action figure out there, but still cool, love the Mad Monsters
