    Buffalo Toy Show Report

So i got up this morning and braved the drive to Buffalo, my family opted out and chose to enjoy precious sleep.

I've been going to this show for about ten years, so much so that I know where the dealers are, I know where the guy with the carded Battlestar Galactica figures is going to be. So I wasn't expecting to be surprised but this one was probably the best I've ever been to. What I saw:

The biggest bin of Mego parts I've seen in some time
Carded Kirk Spock and Uhura (sad I forgot about the Uhura it had a sweet "Zayres" sticker)
    AJ outfits $10 a piece
Remco Electronic Phaser Cherry box $75
    Lots of loose apes
loose black hole, buck rogers etc
    Loose AHI bendy Dracula $15
    Shogun Warriors model $15

    What I went home with

    Ben Cooper Frankenstein Costume $15
    AHI Action Ape Loose $10

All in all, a satisfying border hop.

I've never been to a toy show. It must be a lot of fun. If I was there, I would have spent some time going through the parts bin and probably pick up some loose apes.

Capt. Kirk: "Is there anyone on this ship, who even remotely, looks like Satan?"
Mr. Spock: "I am not aware of anyone who fits that description, Captain"
Capt. Kirk: "No, Mr. Spock, I didn't think you would be"

Are there still people in Buffalo?
When I left there in 1998 I thought everyone followed me out?

(Still trying to talk my Mom into getting out of there)
Where did they have the show? I'm guessing in the suburbs and not in the actual city?

Did you check out the parts and prices? Just curious. I hit a box of junk at a small show here, and started pulling loose mego parts out of the bottom. Superman boots, bats boots, some SMDM sneakers, common stuff, etc. I ask him for prices and he's off the charts. $15 a pair for standard Supes and Bats boots, $4 each for the sneakers. I end up settling for a mint Ironman boot and a nice Thing suit for $10. Surprising thing was he was so cheap on his other vintage stuff and so high on stuff just sitting at the bottom of the box.
It's not a doll it's an action figure.

Yeah they didn't make much sense, some were super high, others reasonable. Loose naked apes were like $20 but the Astro Ape was clothed and $10, go figure.

I was meaning to ask if you managed to check out the show. It looks like it was much better than previous ones. Due to circumstances beyond my control (mainly a very grumpy two year old with the sniffles) I couldn't take a drive over the border to check it out. Figures I missed a pretty decent show. Great grab on the AHI Ape!

There were three big toyshows this month I assume you mean the Hearthstone Manor one this past weekend. It was OK. Alot more Marxx stuff around this year.

Dissapointed there was not alot of Trek or Star Wars. Or DR Who... One mego Who (Way too much $) And Two new sets One 5 figure set and one single dalek.

Alot of great deals if you stick to the end. Got a comlpete set of 'Resurrection of Monstress" figures. ...... Think Universal monsters meets anime meets scantily clad women. Not too much articulation but great sculpts and tons of assessories. Dirt cheap.

Naw I missed Antique world in Clarence. There were two other shows. One was Trains and collectibles at The Knights of Columbus. I hit that one. And there was another one Trains, cars and Toys at a VA post. I missed that one too

I wish I could have hit Antique world they usually have great stuff.

When I was up there in July it rained BOTH Sundays when i wanted to go to Antique World!
I went the second Sunday anyway but it was a bit disappointing as the only people there were the "regulars" (indoor dealers) and a few scattered outdoor tables. All the stuff inside was overpriced (as expected) or not even open (closed up booths).

Maybe in a few years when i get back up there it will undoubtedly rain each Sunday again. Same thing happened the time before that when I was up in 2006.
I think it rained here about two months ago...once.
