Mego of the Day is the master of mayhem on the planet Mongo, the emporer Ming! If you don't collect these, I suggest checking out the Mego Museum Flash Gordon gallery, it will convert you. Scale, Schmale......
I always wanted the Flash Gordon line but never saw them in stores. I bid on them every now and then on eBay but always lose. I keep hoping that EmCe will do these in 8" scale.
Castaway Dave said that he wants to do a Flash Gordon line based on the original Alex Raymond strips. That would be cool with me too.
This line is amazingly detailed. Probably one of my favorite Mego lines for total coolness. Ming has a great sculpt. He looks mean and nasty, just as he should.
Personally I agree with all the compliments to the figure
but I'd like to add than the over-the-top bright colors
make for a real cool figure feature too. I just like that kind of
hardcore "70s superheroey" design....all he's missing is
a bright fuscia nylon cape
8 inxch scale certainly would be cool....I'd prefer that...but,
again, it's just a fun looking figure (for a VERY iconic villain)
whatever scale.
"No. No no no no no no. You done got me talkin' politics. I didn't wanna'. Like I said y'all, I'm just happy to be alive. I think I'll scoot over here right by this winda', let this beautiful carriage rock me to sleep, and dream about how lucky I am." - Chris Mannix
I just checked out the FG gallery...wow...sky blue shirt and pink pants combo
for that one dude.
All the freaking bright almost pastel colors on these comic book warriors
cool as heck---I googled that Alex Raymond stuff and it's nowhere near as
outrageous and pleasing.
QUESTION: What costumes are these Mego designs based on?
(The Mego era FG movie?)

The character's costume designs are based upon artist Alex Raymond's classic Flash Gordon art.
Really---then I really got the wrong idea from the art I googled thinking
it was Alex Raymond's.
The images I got weren't nearly as trippy as the Mego designs.

This is a great, colourful line filled wih accessories and detail. I've never understood why many people don't collect these just because they aren't 8 inches. That's fine with me though, if they were 8 inchers, the demand would probably be much higher, and so would their prices, and I wouldn't be able to put together a collection of these at the prices I've been paying for them.
mego really went all out with this line. great sculpts, detail, accessories, cant ask for anything more!! had dale arden but gave up collecting because of budget constraints.
