    MOTD: Captain Dobey

It wouldn't be Moustache Week without TV Super Cop, Captain Dobey. Whose hobbies include leisure suits and yelling at Starsky and Hutch.

I was never into Starsky and Hutch

He would make a decent Charles Bronson custom though

Kind of a big head (proportionally..), but a very nice sculpt for customs.

I wonder why Mego didn't give him a fat body, y'know, for realism.

Probably economics, if he can share a body with Huggy Bear it saved a bit of money.

If you're gonna do Starsky and Hutch you may as well have a Dobey. Besides he's good as a civilian stand in for the WGSH adventures. And His suit is sweet.

You could take him and Luke Duke, and with a little paint work, make a convincing Mel Gibson and Danny Glover Lethal Weapon figure combo.

Why you would want to, I'm not sure, but the thought just crossed my mind...

Great custom! I acquired the Mego Starsky and Hutch line (accept Chopper) as an adult. I too wish Dobey could have been given a fat body and a brown suit and tie to fit. Then again, all four of those figures could have been more series accurate. I am the proud owner of a Captain Dobey figure.
                        Cheers.

I rember seeing Starsky and Hutch figures on the pegs at the stores back in the day, But for some reason i never got them which is odd because i liked the show it was one of the few that me and my dad could agree on Charlies Angels was an other But i don't rember ever seeing Capt Dobey or Chopper or Hugy Bear as a kid, As an Adult collecter i only have Starsky and Hutch and perhaps i'll track down Hugy Bear by sorry Capt Dobey i dout you'll ever make it on my shelf

You know, this head sculpt looks like it would be perfect for an Admiral Morrow figure from Trek III.....does anybody make a copy of him?

Ok, back to the REAL Megos today. LOL
I don't know that I'd want this figure for any particular reason but I'd probably buy any 8" Mego for a steal price. I do want to get at least Starsky & Hutch one day but I keep trying for auction deals. I'm not a big spender unless I really want the item.
Never thought I'd get into customizing but for some reason since I've gotten back into Megos I look at figures now and say to myself something like; "Hmm, a new outfit and that guy would make a great Trek crewman." or "I could make some clothes for this one and he'd be a great extra in my POTA display." That's why I'm starting to look for some Action Jacksons.
