I remember Marsh, the grocery store my parents shopped as when I was a kid in 1970's Indiana, got a ton of these figures in. I' m sure they were closeout after not selling in more typical toy stores.
If I behaved when we went shopping, my parents would usually let me get a rack toy or a comic book and I remember slowly completing a set over a couple of months. And I played with them hard!

I managed much of the supporting cast in a K Mart close out in 1981, every character was a buck and my parents were feeling very generous that day. I nabbed humanoid, Star, Harry, Alex and Kate that day. I remember sitting in a furniture store watching Buck Rogers while my parents haggled for an hour. Bliss..

I have never even seen the movie. Don't know that I even want to as I'm sure it's probably either dated or corny. Never have seen it shown on tv. Never have seen it offered in any ads for DVDs (sale ads for Circuit City, Best Buy, etc). Never seen it on the shelf. Don't remember the toys in the stores.
Don't like the 3.75" line of ANYTHING.
To me these (3.75" figures) are just a reminder of the death knell of a once great company.
I don't think I'd even want them if they were 8 inch though.
Just not my cup of tea, no memories attached to them whatsoever.
In fact, I didn't even know who this figure was or what line it was from (although I took an educated guess at black hole since there were only a few 3.75" lines) until one poster mentioned it.
I was really getting into electronic stuff by the time the 3&3/4" guys started to dominate things. My ties to Borgnine lie with incessant reruns of 'McHale's Navy'
The only Black Hole figure I got was VINcent. I saw them all at a collectibles shop but had no interest other than to look at them up close. I remember my friend got the Sentry robot and Maximillian. I always thought it was weird the Sentry had the same hands as a Micronaut. He got the short end of the stick too. His blaster was NOTHING like the cool double barelled blasters from the movie.
