    Halloween/mego Madmonsters Memories

A thread involving halloween and mego mad monsters in your childhood,

I remember for me being a new guy an finding about megos. i order the mad monsters on the back of scarymonsters magazine. i remember reciving them on october 1st. then well i was checking them out i never kown the orginals but the classic tv toys versons have me an idea what they are i kind mess around and pose them, at that time me and my mother went to an old threater every sunday at 12pm at noone and saw the mummy on the big screen. each sunday showed a different classic movie at if you make it at 12:00 pm you see it for free!
so watching the mummy, dracula, frankenstein, and wolfman fuled my love for monsters and mad monster mego repros!

    >w> i kinda started playing with them abit ya know, killin' victims or somethin like that!

so involving megos and what went on in your halloween in your childhood is the basic question i had alot of fun tht year. i mean seeing classics old horrors on the big screen is really really rare.

so my enjoyment for halloween and mad monsters and old films were a great treat for me. even though i was atleast 17 at the time.

so whats your story that involves madmonsters and halloween?

Well, I never had them as a kid but one Halloween weekend I made the trek to the Kane County Show, my wife and I watched Monster movies all night in our hotel before the show. The next day I bought the Mad Monsters castle, it was somewhat fitting.

I was a bit late, I got my Mad Monsters Mummy for Christmas, not Halloween (he's the only MM I owned as a kid). He was given to me by my aunt, uncle and cousins when they visited a few days after Christmas. My cousins brought along their newly received Dracula and Frankenstein, so we had a little monster mash that day, two months after Halloween.

I got my first- Dracula- for Christmas so I had t wait 10 months before he was "appropriate." I, of course, didn't mind. BTW, check out that other booty!!

Never had any Mego monsters as a kid but I remember seeing one in a kid's house I was at. It was the Mummy. I just got a CTVT Mummy from a board member recently and I love it. it has a few body issues like most CTVT but I love it anyway. I have no use for the others. I'm not big into Monsters.

I did buy a carded AHI Frankie when I was 10. I had it for years and never played with it or anything. Traded it away online.

I got the set of Mad Monsters just before Easter of 1975. I was in the hospital with a very serious medical condition at the age of 8. My parents visited me everyday and they brought gifts everytime ranging from comic books, to coloring books, to toys. I got the Mad Monsters the day that I came out of the Intensive Care Unit and the day that I went home I found Batman, Robin, and a Batmobile waiting for me. It wasn't Halloween but years later my parents told me that if I didn't have the operation the day that I did, I would have died within a day or two. So it was something scary.

I never had 'em as a kid, but oh how I wanted them to fight my WGSHs! I wanted everything Mego-sized on those racks when I was a kid!

In the Mego era. the monsters were poorer villians for the heros. So I never showed great interest in them. When I found out about TVCT. My first order was the complete Mosters set. You never appreciate somethings until there gone. Or in this case returned after along absence.
